The party arrived separately at an archeological dig site in Chult. An important artifact (a basilisk egg!) was discovered but quickly stolen. The party came together and battled a gang of cultists who were also in possession of a baby basilisk. The party has decided to follow the cultists in hopes of returning the egg & have begun their journey into the jungle to the temple of the basilisk cult.
