"Apathy and Protest"

In this Fifth episode we are joined by Marty Flynn from the Belfast Celtic Society to cover the period 1940 to 1950 in a decade where Celtic find themselves practically running to stand still. Refusing to utilise guest players stationed in Scotland during the War, Celtic miss many opportunities to put quality on the pitch and that is reflected in the results. Willie Maley is replaced by Jimmy McStay, who in turn is replaced by Jimmy McGrory as the Club limp along. Off the pitch supporters begin to organise themselves as the fans become discontented with what they are watching.

There is the threat of relegation, meetings in graveyards and dodgy referees again, all against the back drop of war and rationing………Thank God for Jock Weir and Charlie Tully

There is also the History of the Stadium, History of the Celtic Shirt and all your Fan Stories and Confessions.

As our Fifth guest, Marty nominates The Celtic Graves society as the nominated charity and you can learn more about them at http://celticgraves.com/index/

We are asking everyone that downloads the podcast to donate one pound, fifty pence or even a fiver for the episode, but really anything you can afford will be greatly appreciated and ALL monies raised will be given to the ten worthy charities at the end of the series.
