RATING
This is beautifully written, emotionally literate science fiction with strong characterisation and very high production values. As with all of the best science fiction it serves to shed light on our familiar human fears, anxieties and aspirations in a setting that is far from familiar. Great work from a very talented team.
ChaikaThank you so much for this beautiful review <3
A great start! I'm excited to see where it goes! The sound design is amazing!
ChaikaThank you so much Mike <3
The idea of being the last living human would be bad enough, but having that person be a child puts a whole different spin on it. This is an excellent show worth listening to.
ChaikaThank you so much for this lovely review <3 Though we probably did not make the time jump clear in the prologue - Chaika has just turned 18 when she embarks on her journey, so technically not a chil…
The love and care put into the editing. sound design and music makes for a soothing, poignant and mysterious experience. Voice acting comes from top-notch talent that makes me forget my surroundings and invest in the story. A mysterious tale about being far away from Earth and the human race, and craving return.
A young woman who grew up on a moon base, and who was educated by an A.I teacher, sets off to a colony on Mars to connect with other humans, after the lights go out on Earth. The only human she knew was her mother who died on the moon base, and she doesn’t even know if there are any other humans left. She hopes and prays there are still poeple on Mars, but she’s also worried about meeting them, and about how she will be received by them when she does. This is an intelligent sci fi story which explores the way humans connect with each other, and whether there’s even any point to them after A.I has taken over. There’s something very ethereal to this play, maybe it’s the music, or the poetry, but there is an overall feeling of loneliness and wistfulness to this piece, which really moved me.
Right from the start, the acting is excellent, the story is compelling, and the sound design is fully immersive without being distracting. Love the "word of the day" and "quote of the day" elements as palette cleansers for what will no doubt be a very emotional story. Cannot wait to see where this one goes!
What a beautifully produced podcast! I love Chaika, I love how it's emotionally devastating at times, I love learning new words in different languages. Definitely give it a listen! And of course if you love AIs in fiction, this podcast has several and they're darlings.
ChaikaThank you so much for listening, and for this beautiful review <3
