Jamie and Shawn recap Season One in all of its glory, and share their thoughts on the start of Season Two. Listen to what they have to say.
Ash Williams has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead until a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind and once again, Ash becomes mankind’s only hope.
Set long after the events of the Evil Dead and Army of Darkness films, Ash proves himself to be his worst enemy as a drunken/drug rattled night with a young woman turns into him accidentally unleashing the powers of the Necronomicon. After trying to ignore the trouble he caused, he decides he needs to end the Evil Dead scourge once and for all. Along the way he is joined by Pablo and Kelly, each bearing their own scars from the Deadite infestation, and each offering Ash a different set of skills to use in the fight against evil. Together, Ash and his friends must brave demons, possessions, the police, a witch doctor, a militia, and a mysterious woman named Ruby who knows more about what’s going on than they do.
Ash might very well save the world, if only he wasn’t getting distracted by his sex drive and by making almost every bad decision he can in every situation.
While enjoying his time at Jacksonville, Ash is forced to come out of his short retirement after being attacked again by Deadites. The truce Ash been enjoying has been terminated and the new Deadites have been summoned by Ruby. Ruby has lost control of Creepy Demon Children and Ash is the only one she can turn to for help. So instead of calling him and asking if he’d be down for some undead ass kicking, she sends Deadites with a hint about where Ash needs to go next instead.
Ash (still in possession of the Kandarian dagger), Pablo and Kelly return to Ash’s hometown, Elk Grove, where they meet up with Ash’s father, Brock, who criticizes him for running away from the town after the events that transpired 30 years ago. The whole town thinks that Ash is just a homicidal freak and treat him as such.
While searching around town, Pablo receives a vision of Ruby, prompting the gang to head to the town’s crematorium. There Ash finds an injured Ruby, claiming that her children have betrayed her, forcing her to hide the Necronomicon. After saving her from her three demon children, Ash and Ruby form a temporary alliance much to Kelly and Pablo’s dismay.
