Jamie keeps confusing a very tired Shawn who is suffering from acute “coffee hasn’t kicked in-itis”. Both Jamie and Shawn discuss the most recent episode of Ash Vs the Evil Dead, and they discuss the problems with moments vs narrative.
Ash wakes up from a nightmare and finds himself in an insane asylum. While trying to make sense of his current situation, a man calling himself Doctor Peacock shows up and claims that Ash has been locked up since the murder of his friends at the cabin. He also claims that everything Ash remembers about the Necronomicon was a delusion he made up to deny responsibility for his actions. Ash believes that Dr. Peacock is really Baal in disguise and that Ball is trying to break his spirit and his mojo through an illusion.
Within the carefully constructed illusion, Ash sees Ruby, as a nurse, Kelly as a fellow inmate, and Pablo as an orderly. Kelly’s inmate persona causes much pain to herself. Pablo’s orderly is vicious and at one point violently subdues Ash. Ash also contends with a puppet of himself that is supposed to a representation of Ash’s delusion. Baal, as Dr. Peacock, even uses electroshock therapy on Ash and kills Chet for the second time. Nevertheless, Ash tries to withstand the onslaught from his new foe.
Ash attempts to fight through the illusions and tries to win back the recognition of the friends that no longer see him for who he is, but he fails time after time. As the illusion continues, Baal gets inside Ash’s head and Ash begins to visibly doubt himself. After seeing Ruby, Pablo and Kelly arrive outside the asylum, Ash appears to be broken and he agrees to follow Baal’s command to destroy the Necronomicon, which means he will have to kill Pablo.
