Jamie and Shawn had the honor to speak with the legendary actor, director, and writer Ted Raimi about his upcoming role on Ash Vs The Evil Dead, his career, and achieving cult actor status. Ted Raimi was born in Detroit, Michigan and began his professional acting career at the age of seventeen. Growing up, Ted always wanted to be Rod Serling, and his mother told him if he wanted to be than he could. Ted’s career as an actor, writer, and director spans over thirty years, and Ted channeled his own inner Rod Serling in his fantastic Deathly Spirits webseries. Besides Ted’s new role as Chet on Starz’s Ash Vs The Evil Dead, he has appeared in such films as Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, The Evil Dead film series, the Spider-Man trilogy, Oz the Great and Powerful, The Grudge, Drag Me to Hell, and many more. His television career boasts such TV shows as Alien Nation, Twin Peaks, Baywatch, seaQuest DSV, Xena: Warrior Princess, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Legend of the Seeker, and Supernatural.
No stranger to the horror genre, Ted also has the distinct notoriety of being the only other actor besides Bruce Campbell to appear in all three original Evil Dead films. Now Ted reunites with Bruce and Lucy Lawless (who originally all worked together on Xena: Warrior Princess) to combat evil as Chet, Ash’s childhood friend who may be the only person in Ash’s past who believes he wasn’t responsible for the deaths in the first two Evil Dead films.
See Ted strut his stuff on Season Two of Ash Vs the Evil Dead debuting on the Starz’s network on October 2, 2016.
