0:52

radio analyst Daniel Jeremiah recaps

0:54

Sunday Nights win in Pittsburgh with a look

0:56

ahead to the Bengals. All

1:01

right, Daniel Jeraldmiah joins me on Chargers

1:03

Weekly and DJ, let's just start

1:06

with Sunday night in Pittsburgh. Describe what

1:08

it was like for you A money in the booth man it simply

1:10

put it, it it was just a tale of two halves. Yeah,

1:13

it was. It was wild and I'll be honest with him.

1:15

Um, there was a moment there. I'll

1:18

say I lost a little faith. I thought that one was kind

1:20

of going to get away from the Charges a little bit. Um

1:23

just the way the Steelers jumped on him, and it

1:25

just seemed like nothing was going

1:27

the Chargers away. And I've seen this Steelers

1:30

team for a long time and having

1:32

worked in that division for a couple of different teams, it

1:34

just seems like once that snowball starts rolling

1:36

downhill, uh, there's nothing you can do

1:38

to stop it. And the stats were out there

1:40

that showed, uh, you know, the fact

1:43

that that when they get a lead like that, they

1:45

just don't ever lose. So it was definitely

1:47

uh never actually DJ never lost,

1:50

never lost. Two twenty zero unbelievable.

1:54

So this was, uh yeah, it was definitely kind

1:56

of a die of straight But then,

1:58

man, the it just flipped

2:00

so fast when it came out in the third quarter

2:03

and the Chargers needed everything to go

2:06

their way. They need to make their own breaks, and that's

2:08

exhaustly what they did. Well. You tweeted this after

2:10

the game, the stars showed up and

2:12

listen. Contributions came from up and down the roster.

2:14

I want to talk about Desmond King and Justin Jackson

2:17

in a second, but Philip the only

2:19

quarterback in the league to throw multiple touchdowns

2:21

every game this season, Keenan Allen fourteen

2:23

catches, had another touchdown, Joey

2:25

Bosa a big sack in the fourth quarter, And

2:28

what can you say about the play of Darwin

2:30

James. We haven't done our Durwin minute in a second,

2:33

DJ, Let's just let's just do it now. Yeah,

2:36

He's just phenomenal. I mean, the crazy

2:39

thing is that the plays that will show up in the box

2:41

score, the interception where he bluffed

2:43

like he was blitzen and then peeled off and made

2:46

an athletic interception. You'll see that

2:48

show up in the box score. You'll see, you know, sim

2:50

appressive, open store to play

2:53

his play the game and really kind of

2:55

a signature moment for him,

2:57

in my opinion, was just the range that he showed

3:00

to go over there and clothes on Antonio Brown

3:02

and drill him and keep him from getting that second

3:04

foot down on the sideline. That was for

3:06

a guy that big, that was something

3:08

you don't see very often, what a unique talent and

3:11

that was such a huge play into games. I don't

3:13

think people realize that. You know, he comes down

3:15

with that. The momentum is just flowing

3:18

from Pittsburgh at that point, it could have been over.

3:20

At that point, Darwin made a play

3:22

that Listen, Antonio Brown was on a knee

3:25

and he had to have been hurt from that hit

3:27

because that was a that was a big, big hit, a

3:30

big hit, and it was clean. And that's something that's a

3:32

challenge for a lot of players in the league right now, is to make

3:35

a big play like that, but do it within the framework

3:37

of the new rules. And then that's exactly

3:39

what that was. So he just shows us something

3:41

each and every week. And really, you

3:43

know, I think if you if you're around

3:46

the team, like we're fortunate enough to be around him,

3:48

just the energy that he brings each and every

3:50

day, you know, we'd be a training

3:52

camp, out there, practice or on the game field.

3:54

He just he brings a lot of juice is the word

3:56

I would use to that defense. And it

3:59

wasn't just him, And you mentioned what Joey

4:01

Bosa did getting that timely sack. I thought,

4:03

I gotta give both coordinators a lot of credit

4:05

in this one too, you know, for this game getting away

4:07

from him early. The adjustments

4:09

that were made at halftime by both

4:12

Ken Wizon Hunt offensively able

4:14

to stay with the run with Justin

4:16

Jackson lay popping a couple I thought that was

4:19

outstanding patience on his part. And

4:21

then Gus Bradley after giving up some big

4:23

plays and a couple long penalties. I thought that

4:25

defense really really set

4:27

and did a nice job. So I think you can't forget about

4:29

them, no doubt. Ken Wizzon Hunt was

4:32

great, the adjustments they made the running game, and

4:34

Justin Jackson had all his production DJ

4:36

in that second half eighty two total yards and a

4:38

touchdown. This is a guy who

4:40

averaged two hundred and eighty five carries

4:43

a year at Northwestern in four years

4:46

in Evanston. He's got fresh legs, and

4:48

boy, what a spark he was in the second half.

4:50

Now, he was awesome. You know, it was impressive

4:53

to me. The invasion is what it jumped

4:55

out when you're watching it, But there's a couple of times

4:57

I'm like, there's nothing there and he just kind of create

5:00

on his own. Just tremendous

5:02

stop start quickness and

5:04

being able to find stuff that was

5:06

very difficult to find. There wasn't a lot of space, he created

5:09

his own. He was just simply

5:11

outstanding that really kind of left the stadium

5:13

saying, this is a great win. I'm

5:15

excited to see more of this kid, you know. I think he's

5:17

earned the opportunity to get some more reps and some more

5:19

touches, and so far, Man,

5:22

there's two games in a row, have popped a couple the

5:24

previous week against Arizona, So I

5:26

think there's still more we have to see from him. DJ.

5:29

When you scouted justin what

5:31

did you see in him as a runner that

5:34

you thought would translate to the NFL right away?

5:36

Because I mean, obviously there's things that that he

5:38

does that he did in Evanston that

5:41

translate to the NFL. Yeah,

5:43

really just kind of the natural instincts

5:46

more than anything else. Now, he didn't have the

5:48

prototype size, you know, on hundred two hundred

5:50

pounds, but what you

5:52

had is you had tremendous vision and instincts.

5:54

And then somebody that you know, we used the scouting

5:57

word. I don't know how how

6:00

how well this shows out a language, or how

6:02

impressive it is from an English standpoint, but wiggle,

6:04

h he's got tremendous wiggle he's just got a

6:06

way to get himself out of trouble um

6:08

and just kind of slip and slide, dart and dive.

6:11

Um, He's just that he's a nifty runner.

6:13

And uh, you saw that throughout his career at Northwestern

6:16

for not being a big guy. He runs hard um

6:19

and and doesn't really take a lot of direct shots because

6:21

he's show he's so loose and nimble.

6:23

So um, he was outstanding.

6:25

I think, you know, the league is going to have to adjust

6:27

because forever and scouting, you know, two hundred

6:30

pounds is kind of that marker. Um, you

6:32

wanted guys to be two ten, two fifteen, but two

6:34

hundred. You know, if you're hundred, two hundred pounds, it's kind of like,

6:36

okay, you know you're you're you're

6:38

gonna be somebody that can only handle a handful of carries.

6:41

But when you look at just a the AFC

6:43

West and see what Philip Winds he's done as

6:45

a sub two hundred pounder. And now we're starting

6:47

to see, you know, with Justin Jackson doing his thing,

6:49

that you gotta update those guys now you

6:51

can't punish them any longer. Yeah,

6:53

Jackson a seventh round pick. And

6:56

speaking of late round picks, man, Desmond King

6:58

your AFC Special Teams Player

7:00

of the Week, a fifth round pick, He's already

7:02

been AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

7:05

I say, you give him some snaps on offense if

7:07

he can get the clean sweet DJ, there

7:10

you go, triple crown exactly.

7:12

Man, I'll tell you what he's uh.

7:14

You know, there's we used to always say when I worked

7:17

with the Ravens, you know, had a chance

7:19

to be you know, around guys like Ed Reid,

7:21

and when they got their hands on the football,

7:23

that's when the funds started. And there's

7:26

guys that you know, there's guys there's different levels, right,

7:28

there's guys that can, Oh, there's

7:30

guys that can play the football. There's guys that can

7:32

catch the football, and then there's those

7:34

other guys that once they do, that's when

7:36

the fund starts. And be it in the returning

7:39

game or on defense. Once Desmond King

7:41

gets the ball in his hands, then you just kind of you stood up in your

7:43

suitle but and say, Okay, what's gonna happen? Now? He

7:46

just got tremendous, tremendous vision.

7:48

The same things I said about Justin Jackson as a

7:50

runner. You see what Desmond King. Once he

7:52

gets the ball in his hands, either on a return or or

7:54

after interception, he's just got just in an

7:56

eight field with the football and hands.

7:59

And again another I always looked at

8:01

it from a scouting standpoint. I mean, they're awesome. Don't

8:03

get caught up on the stopwatch. He is

8:05

just a darn good football player and really

8:08

really felt much further than he should have in that draft.

8:11

And this isn't the first game DJ that

8:13

he's done something like this. We talk about the pick six

8:15

in Seattle, the two interceptions

8:17

in Cleveland, the thirty two yard punt return

8:19

in Cleveland, the forty yard kickoff

8:22

returned to kind of get things going

8:24

against the Cardinals. I think they had their first

8:26

touchdown to off of that kick return. So

8:29

whenever you need a play, I mean, it's

8:31

just it's kind of mind blowing that that a

8:33

fifth round pick, second year guy has

8:35

made such an impact with

8:37

these plays that can really turn a game. Yeah,

8:40

the crazy thing is, I still believe,

8:43

you know, he's one of the better nickels in the league, but

8:45

I still believe that you played him as a high he

8:48

could be Pro Bowl safety. He's

8:50

just he's got that type of versatility. So

8:52

he's gonna he's gonna provide the child. There's not only

8:55

with big plays throughout his career. He's gonna provide

8:57

him with tremendous flexibility because of all

8:59

the different you can where he's

9:02

really when we call him just like he's a roster he's

9:04

a roster saver. He's gonna save us a roster

9:06

spot because of all the different things he can do. You

9:08

don't have to just carry a primary, you

9:10

know, punt returners as some teams would have to

9:12

do. He can cross train, you know, if you're

9:14

worry about keeping you know, if you've got an extra offensive

9:17

lineman you want to keep, well, maybe you don't have to keep as many

9:19

safeties because he could cross train and play safety

9:21

if you need him too. He's just it's just a tremendous

9:23

asset. DG. Let's discuss

9:25

this week's opponent, Cincinnati Bengals. They've

9:28

lost four straight, six or seven. They've

9:30

been struggling. Andy Dalton dune for the season. Aj

9:32

Green done for the season. The defenses

9:34

struggled, they fired the defensive coordinated earlier

9:36

in the year. All that said, nothing

9:39

is ever given in this league, it's gonna be it's

9:41

gonna be important for the Chargers to just

9:43

lack in here coming off a big win. Yeah

9:46

to me again, I feel like when you're playing team

9:48

you're better than, it's just key to just

9:51

put him away early. And you know, look at the

9:53

Chargers. Bring some life into that Denver Broncos team,

9:55

which just beat the Bengals. So Broncos, you

9:58

know, Chargers had a chance to put them awa way, they didn't

10:00

do it. They come back win that game, then

10:02

they give them some momentum. They'd be Pittsburgh next

10:05

week. Now they'd beat Cincinnati, and now you're looking

10:07

at a game at the end of the year where you're thinking,

10:09

man, they're gonna be They're gonna be packed and have

10:11

their bags packed and want to get that one

10:13

over as soon as possible. Now they've

10:15

got some life there with that Broncos organization. So

10:17

the same thing with the Bengals and this one. Jump

10:20

on him early, try and put them away. And

10:22

if you can jump on him early, I think

10:24

the Chargers can really exploit this offensive

10:26

line. You know, you look at that game times

10:29

and I think this Charger's fun. We'll have some matchup

10:31

advantages and it could be a big day.

10:33

So to me get that early lead

10:36

jump on him and then cut those pass rushers

10:38

a loose. Yeah, if you have a critique

10:40

for this Chargers team, the last

10:42

four wins, the opponent has scored

10:45

first, so you're always kind of playing catch up at

10:47

the beginning of the game. So you're right, it's gonna be imperative

10:49

to kind of get off to a good start. If you could

10:51

do that, the running game's gonna

10:53

have a big saying it. Since he's given up over

10:55

two hundred yards rushing in four

10:57

games this season, and then and then there was a fifth

11:00

they allowed one hundred ninety eight. This could

11:02

be a big spot for for Jackson, who you

11:04

mentioned, and also Austin Eckler. Yeah,

11:07

it really should be. You know what, I'd say

11:09

that that they didn't have a nice game on the ground.

11:11

I also think Philip Rivers should be able to do some damage

11:13

through the air. So, um, it's set

11:16

up with some of the injuries

11:18

they've had offensively and just some of the personnel

11:20

holes that have defensively, it's set

11:22

up for the Chargers to be able to kind of control this thing

11:24

however they want. But I

11:26

actually would think he come out, probably

11:28

show on the ball a little bit and then try

11:30

and jump on him, and then you turn the ball

11:32

over to your running game and you should be able to close

11:35

it out that way. So, uh, it's

11:37

a it's a matchup on paper that is very

11:39

friendly the Chargers, but that was an

11:41

emotionally draining win last

11:43

week. They can't afford to kind

11:46

of sleep walk through the beginning of this football game, which we've

11:48

seen, as you mentioned a couple of times. They've

11:50

got to correct that quickly on divas

11:52

for the Chargers. Jeff Driscoll under center

11:55

for the Bengals. With green out, I

11:57

guess Tyler Board becomes the No. One receiver

11:59

in all offense. But I think I guess priority

12:02

A. Joe Mixon. He rushed for eighty two yards

12:04

on twelve attempts last week, almost seven yards

12:06

of pop. He's got to be the guy just

12:09

slow. I think he's the key, right Yeah,

12:11

and again it's just if you can be good on first

12:13

down, get them off schedule, and

12:16

then set yourself up to rush the pass. Right now

12:18

I'm looking at now, I guess they're still set. Four times.

12:20

I know he's been sacked a bunch last week, so they'll

12:22

have some opportunities there. But it's got to start

12:24

with your first down defense. And

12:27

again, this Chargers team maybe a little bit undersize

12:30

a second level, relying on their

12:32

quickness. Beat blocks, beat

12:34

beat, beat lineman two spots

12:37

and play downhill. That's gonna be it's gonna

12:39

be key for that second line of defense. You

12:41

slow down Joe Mixon and get them in second, long,

12:44

third, and long. It's gonna have a it's

12:46

gonna have a it's gonna be a nice day for the Charges

12:48

if you can do that, because they're just matchup advantages

12:50

up and down the line of scrimmage. Yeah. If the Chargers

12:53

win DJ their first double

12:55

digit win season since two thousand and

12:57

nine, I ask you always for your

13:00

key to victory. I think we just talked about it. Really just start

13:02

fast. Yeah, that to

13:04

me is that, you know, I would say two

13:06

things. Start fast and

13:09

make the Bengals drive the full field. You

13:11

know, that's one of the things we saw against the Steelers.

13:13

You can't do that against anybody. Is

13:15

give them, you know, put the ball to fifty yard line every

13:17

time they start the possession, which I think the Steelers

13:19

first three scoring drives. They were

13:21

at least at their forty You know that you just

13:24

can't do that. Make a team like the Bengals with a

13:26

backup quarterback have to drive, you

13:28

know, eighty ninety yards. They're gonna have tough

13:30

time doing that. We only put up ten points last week.

13:32

What you can't do is give up long returns,

13:35

turn the ball over, give them short fields and cheap

13:37

points. Make them earn those points and

13:39

they'll be fine. Finally, DJ, I

13:41

saw you had a bye week on the aftermath.

13:43

I love the aftermath, but it looks like you were you were

13:45

off. This week's what's moved the

13:47

sticks looking like? On Thursday? I listened to Mike

13:49

Mayock on Tuesday and obviously the

13:51

ten takeaway spot. Appreciate

13:54

you, buddy. We we had a fun

13:56

podcast with Mayok, so that one's

13:58

up, and then Thursday we will have I believe

14:00

we have our buddy Brady Quinn coming on, so nice.

14:02

We'll talk a little bit about, you know, talk about

14:04

what we were expecting to see from these college playoff

14:07

games and some of the some of the big time

14:09

graft prospects we'll be keeping our eye on with

14:11

Brady. So we're we're kind of international podcast

14:14

right now. Bucky's over Buck, he's over

14:16

in London right now. I heard. Yeah, that's great.

14:18

So I don't know if he's eating breakfast, lunch,

14:20

or dinner while he's doing the pod because

14:22

the time change. I even haven't been over there this year

14:24

with the Chargers that I still have figured that one out. But

14:27

man, it's uh, it's great to have him over there

14:29

and kind of grow out. We're growing the movie six brand

14:32

internationally. Well you know what, you know, it was

14:34

great. I heard you say that you're recruiting over

14:36

there because the the atn guys seem

14:38

to have a good Yeah, they're popular

14:40

group over there. I talked to Sessler and

14:43

uh, he mentioned he goes.

14:45

I think the last time I was on DJ

14:48

kind of bum rushed me at the combine. He was upset

14:50

about it. So anyway, that was funny.

14:54

Yeah, Look, it is a it's a

14:56

it's a friendly rivalry, I would say, between

14:58

me and the year around the NFL. I mean maybe

15:00

not friendly, Uh yeah, just rivalry. We'll

15:02

just go rivalry. I love it. I love

15:04

it. DJ. You're the best man. Thank you so much. Thanks

15:07

brother. All

15:10

right to get this week's opposing view. Very

15:12

pleased to be joined by Paul Deannard Junior

15:14

of the Cincinnati Inquirer Cincinnati

15:16

dot com. Paul, thanks so much for joining

15:18

me, sir. How are you doing good? How

15:20

are you doing well? Man? You were just telling me offline

15:23

you got some sleep in snow a

15:25

situation there in Cincinnati. Excited to get to LA.

15:28

Yeah, there is no doubt about that. It

15:31

will be. It will be a welcome change of

15:33

pace for those of us who have been trudging

15:35

through the elements here for a while. But what are the Bengals

15:37

saying about coming to Los Angeles to face the Chargers?

15:40

Yeah, I mean they'll Uh. I don't think anybody's

15:43

excited about playing the Chargers right now.

15:46

Uh. The way they're playing football,

15:48

you know, it's it'll definitely a change your face. They've got

15:50

some guys from from from down in that area.

15:53

But I mean, man, the way the Trudges are playing, Uh,

15:55

nobody wants to see them on the

15:57

schedule, even if it's in perfect weather.

16:00

I tell you, Paul, the Bengals they've been hit

16:02

hard with injuries. Andy Dalton's

16:04

out for the year. AJ Green's out for the year. What

16:07

can you tell us about the new quarterback Jeff

16:09

Driscoll and the way he performs Sunday

16:11

against the Broncos. Jeff,

16:13

you know, he was okay.

16:16

He was in a tough spot. I mean, they

16:18

had a ton of penalties that put them

16:20

consistently behind the stix all

16:23

day, and so he

16:25

was in a bad spot, as you know. And you guys

16:27

playing the same divisions of the Broncos. Uh,

16:29

you get in second and third and long against

16:33

Bradley Chubb and Von Miller and company,

16:35

and you can you can just call it at night. Uh,

16:38

And he was in that spot far too

16:40

often. And really this playing

16:42

behind the six just just put him in a bad way.

16:45

So he was okay. I mean he looked

16:47

like the backup quarterback that yet he's

16:49

a very good athlete and he's he's there

16:52

a lot of players and team think he might even be the best

16:54

actual pure athlete on this team. Is

16:56

the draft pick of the Red Sox

16:59

play, you know, play center field. He's

17:01

got all kinds of speed

17:05

he could run if you give him a chance to. So

17:09

they love to find ways to get him

17:11

going that way. But

17:14

yeah, I mean they if they can just stay

17:16

where where he doesn't have to sit back there

17:19

and deal with a pass rush like that would

17:22

be different. But that's the funny thing. I mean, you know, the Chargers

17:24

both two very similar type of edge rushers

17:27

that can get back there. So it's it's kind of a lot

17:29

of the same problems he could be facing this week.

17:31

Well, you mentioned the penalties. I think Cincinnati

17:34

had twelve penalties against the Broncos.

17:37

How does the offense though, how does it change

17:39

Paul with no Green and no Dalton,

17:42

I would imagine a healthy dose of

17:44

Joe Mixon. But I saw you write this, and I

17:46

saw the stat sheet. He only had twelve carries against

17:48

the Broncos. Yeah,

17:50

because they were constantly in second and third

17:52

and long. I mean there was it

17:55

was. It was incredible how

17:58

behind the change they were. And it's last

18:00

four weeks Joe Nixon's averaging over

18:02

five yards to carry and

18:05

but he has you know, it's been twelve carry

18:08

the game, eleven, fourteen, twelve because

18:10

they've been getting blown out early. You

18:13

know, they were way behind

18:15

in games against Saints and Dan the

18:17

Browns or they've dealt

18:20

with penalties, have been behind the chain.

18:22

The one game where it was close all game, they could give

18:24

it to him. That was the one game he couldn't get

18:26

it going, only average about

18:28

a yard or and a half or so against

18:32

the Ravens. They they couldn't

18:34

seem to get the running game going there. How about

18:36

outside of that, he's really been good,

18:38

But it just seemed like situationally,

18:41

it's been trouble for him to get going because you know,

18:44

that was their play in the dark season, and really

18:46

he's the only him and Tyler Boarder the only real weapons

18:48

they got left. And so you

18:51

know, three of the first six games of the year they

18:53

gave it to him twenty plus times. They would love to

18:55

do that again, but they got to keep games close,

18:58

and they just have not been able to do that. Well,

19:00

you mentioned it goes hand in hand. You know, when you have

19:02

outside weapons like AJ Green, obviously

19:04

it's kind of open up holes for the running game. How

19:07

does it change without AJ Green? Imagined Tyler

19:09

Boyd kind of slips into that number

19:11

one receiving role and he had a pretty pretty good game

19:13

against the Broncos. Yeah, I mean, losing

19:15

AJ Green is the devastating hits

19:17

just already in your team couldn't take. And

19:19

it's the difference between them

19:22

being able to hang around some of these games down

19:24

the stretch and it just being a lost cause.

19:27

He changed it because of what he can

19:29

do. He just changes

19:32

everything in the way teams approach

19:34

the Bengals defensively. He changes

19:36

things for Joe Mixon. He definitely changes

19:38

things for Tyler Boyd. But without

19:41

without AJ Green out there, people can just

19:43

feast their attention on Boyd and double

19:47

team him up and make sure that guy won't kill him, and

19:50

then you're pretty much set. With AJ

19:53

Green out there, you can't do that, and you get Boyd

19:55

and one on ones all day and he's just been smoking people

19:57

this year. He's really had a great year. Or

20:00

you can you know, you had the safeties have to be more

20:02

aware and they've got they've got to sit back. Can

20:04

you just come up and crowd the box when

20:06

there's no Aggreen at buto Baltimore with

20:09

no AJ Green to contend with, win

20:11

up proud of the box and they already have

20:13

a big defensive line anyway, and the Bengals couldn't

20:15

get a team going in the running game. And

20:18

that's what happens without AJ Green. It's just

20:20

they don't have enough other weapons

20:23

to keep up without him. And

20:26

it's it's a it's a devastating loss. I

20:28

mean, you know Dalton, to

20:30

lose Dalton or Green would be devastating.

20:32

To lose the boat is just completely

20:34

paralyzing. You know, you already hit

20:37

with injuries on the defensive side

20:39

of the ball, and listen, I know it happens

20:42

to every team in the NFL, but it seems like

20:44

the Bengals have been hit particularly hard

20:46

on both sides of the ball. On defense,

20:49

what's been the biggest struggle for this

20:51

unit, taking injuries out of the equation.

20:54

They cannot stop the run for the life

20:56

of them. I mean, it's it's unbelievable.

20:58

So five times this year they

21:00

have given up at least one hundred and ninety

21:03

eight yards on the ground. And it's in the passing

21:05

league, by the way. You know, it's

21:07

they just can't stop the

21:09

run. They get bullied back. Their linebackers

21:12

have been terrible. Um, you

21:14

know, they had an injury to one of their

21:16

starting linebackers, Nick Vitgell, early in the year,

21:19

and that was really hurt. That really hurt

21:21

them. He was one of the few guys that could kind

21:23

of make plays in the run game and tackle

21:26

Vontes perfect of a shell of themselves.

21:28

Who's who's really completely uneffective

21:31

this year, and then the rest

21:33

of the linebackers have addressed and so

21:35

that they're not making plays, they're getting

21:37

pushed around up front, and that makes

21:39

for what they are the worst rush defense

21:42

in football and definitely the world

21:44

probably I would say, by the numbers,

21:46

the worst rush defense pretty much in the

21:48

history of the franchise. It's just it's

21:50

been awful. You look at this Chargers offense,

21:53

Paul, what do you think is

21:55

the biggest challenge for the Bengals defense. They've

21:57

been pretty balanced when when you talk

21:59

about the run game in the past game obviously

22:02

Melvin Gordon we'll see on Sunday,

22:04

but Justin Jackson, Austin Eckler specifically

22:07

in that second half, Justin Jackson against

22:10

the Steelers put up some some pretty good numbers

22:12

on the ground. Yeah, I mean, they're

22:16

gonna have They're gonna have trouble. It just seems like a

22:18

terrible matchup to the Bengals from that situation,

22:20

because you know, obviously the charters

22:23

have been so good at utilizing

22:25

their backs all year, and that the Bengals

22:28

have just not really stopped any back that

22:30

includes catching the ball to the back. There's their linebackers,

22:33

which I mentioned, really struggle to cover.

22:35

And so teams are just because they

22:37

have given up more third

22:40

down conversions when targeted

22:43

the linebackers that is than anybody

22:45

in football. And it's not close. They

22:48

just it seems like when teams get in tough

22:50

spots in third down,

22:52

they drop back, they look to get whoever

22:54

whatever linebackers in coverage

22:57

and take advantage of it. And as you know, I

22:59

mean the way the Chargers utilize

23:02

both receivers and running backs running

23:04

into coverage against linebackers. Uh, you

23:07

know, that seems like a mass up to safe for them too.

23:09

Paul, if you could give me a few

23:11

names that maybe Chargers fans

23:14

don't know on on the Bengal side of the football.

23:16

Obviously, no Dalton, no Green, but some guys

23:18

who have stepped up, maybe defensively, some some bright

23:20

spots on defense or offense. You know,

23:23

a guy like William Jackson comes to mind. But

23:25

but any anybody that you think we

23:27

should have our eyes on on Sunday,

23:29

Yeah, I mean, you know, Jesse Bates

23:31

the third has been a really nice

23:34

surprise at rookie as a as

23:36

a rookie safety. Um, he

23:38

second round pick. H. He's

23:40

had some interceptions, He's made some nice plays.

23:42

He's a good player. He used to have a Yeah,

23:44

he seems to have a real note for the football.

23:47

So in a game like this where

23:49

turnovers could be the one thing

23:51

they could keep the Chargers from from really

23:53

blowing it out. Um, you know, a

23:55

guy like Jesse Bates would be one to keep

23:57

an eye on for sure. Um,

23:59

you know, on the offensive

24:01

side of the ball. You know, I mentioned Tyler Boyd earlier.

24:04

Tyler Boyd has just really

24:06

been a special player and showing

24:09

kind of a willingness to throw the

24:11

team on his back without anybody else

24:13

out there helping them essentially, and gotten a

24:15

lot better at dealing with all the attention

24:17

that he gets. You know. And when

24:19

when the when aj Green first went out, I

24:22

think he was a little eyes wide

24:24

open at all the defenders he had

24:26

to power through. But as now as he's kind

24:28

of gotten used to that thing, uh, he's

24:30

had a little bit more success with it and

24:33

the mat matter Jeff Driskill finding them. But

24:35

yeah, you know those are those are certainly

24:37

some players that that you want

24:39

to keep on. Finally, Paul, you

24:42

know, but I think we talked about this the top. What

24:44

do you think could decide this? Obviously you

24:46

want to keep out of third and long

24:48

situations if you're the Bengals, and

24:51

probably get that running game going as much as you possibly

24:53

can with Jill Mixon. Yeah, I

24:55

mean that that would be the key. I mean, I think

24:57

you've got to You've got to get into a situation

24:59

where you can find something you

25:02

can do consistently well and set everything

25:04

else up, and that would be run the ball. I mean, you

25:06

gotta get You got to be in the situation

25:09

both in score and down a distance

25:12

that you can keep Joe Mixon involved and get

25:14

him twenty to twenty five carries and hope that

25:16

he can go off. And that's

25:18

your chance if you're the Bankfless to keep this thing

25:21

where you want it. And then obviously

25:23

on defense, they've got to get some sort of stop in the run.

25:25

But yeah, I think you know, they're

25:28

at the point now where they just have so few

25:30

weapons left that you've just got

25:32

to focus on what you have, and what you

25:34

have right now is essentially a

25:37

running game and Joe Mixon that's working

25:39

well. So they need to find a way

25:41

to ride that. Paul Dana Jr. Cincinnati

26:42

the Fantasy playoffs are here, and

26:45

if you play in multiple leagues, chances are you

26:47

have at least one big time playoff matchup

26:49

this weekend and help to secure

26:52

that win for you is James co of

26:54

Direct TV's Fantasy Zone. James,

26:56

what's up, brother, Nothing much,

26:58

man, it's good to be back on the program. You

27:01

know, we were just talking about how fast

27:03

the season moves once everything gets going. Dude,

27:06

I talked to you in September and

27:08

it's week fourteen. It's December six as

27:10

we take this. It's so crazy,

27:13

man, It's so nuts. But yeah, no,

27:15

it's great to be back with you and looking

27:18

forward to to talking little little Chargers.

27:20

Yeah, man, we're looking forward to it. There's you

27:22

know, there's a lot of process in Week fourteen.

27:25

But before we get into specifics,

27:27

just any general rules for the Fantasy

27:29

playoffs, because I guarantee you there's a lot of owners

27:32

out there right now that are probably a

27:34

little nervous, probably overthinking things

27:36

a little bit as we get to the weekend. Yeah,

27:39

you know, I mean this is when people really

27:41

start to kind of overanalyze the matchups

27:43

and all of a sudden, you know, people's

27:45

season long value really doesn't matter,

27:47

and people just start to really

27:50

play matchups more than more

27:52

than they normally would. So you

27:55

know, for example, like Jared Goff has

27:57

been light out and I know he struggled last

27:59

week from a fantasy perspective, but

28:01

you know, he goes to Chicago, it could

28:03

be a high scoring game. There

28:06

are certainly some some red flags,

28:09

mostly that you know, golf doesn't play that well

28:12

in cold weather games. I don't know what

28:14

the exact temperatures will be, but it's gonna

28:16

be a Sunday night in Chicago. You know

28:18

it's not gonna be nice. It's not gonna be warm. I'll

28:20

tell you that it's not gonna you

28:22

know what I mean. So it's

28:25

a lot of folks there's there is a lot of

28:27

hand ringing, for example, for somebody like Cherikoff,

28:29

which I find to be interesting because he has just been lights

28:31

out this entire season. Yeah,

28:34

but it's things like they get you a little nervous.

28:36

And what I want to do. Let's start a quarterback and then

28:38

we'll go through each position here and what I'll

28:40

do I'll lead with a Chargers player if

28:43

it's relevant, and you know, you

28:45

talk about Philip Rivers. He's the only quarterback

28:47

in the league this year to have thrown multiple

28:49

touchdowns in every game. He's

28:52

got weapons up and down the field. He's playing

28:54

at Bengals D that's had some injuries, struggling

28:56

a little bit. I don't envision a

28:58

scenario in which Philip Rivers

29:00

is on your bench in Week fourteen. I

29:02

cannot imagine. Yeah, I mean,

29:05

barring you know, if you had like Pastrick

29:07

Mahomes or something, you know, but this

29:09

is going to be a guy that is absolutely

29:11

a top five quarterback at least on paper

29:13

going into the week. So taking

29:16

on Bengals defense that in my estimation,

29:19

Look, Tampa Bay is bad defensively.

29:21

I think Cincinnati's worse right now at

29:23

this part, at this part in the season.

29:25

So so yeah, I

29:27

think Philip Rivers, you know. And it's funny

29:29

because you know, they come in with a huge favorite,

29:32

right and people are a little bit worried that

29:34

maybe they'll run the ball.

29:37

But quite honestly, this is Phillips team,

29:39

and it's a past first team, it's a past first

29:41

offense, and Philip's going to get

29:43

his you know what I mean. So I wouldn't anticipate

29:45

I would be I'll tell you what, I'd be disappointed

29:48

if Philip Philip had anything

29:50

less than two touchdowns in this ball game. So

29:53

huge projections I would imagine

29:56

for Philip Rivers against the Cincinnati

29:58

Bengals. All right, other quarterbacks, I

30:00

want to ask you about. You talked about Mahomes and Breeze.

30:02

We know those guys are locks. And again,

30:05

I can't envision a scenario in

30:07

which you would bench a Cam Newton or

30:09

an Aaron Rodgers, but both of them have had

30:11

some specific situations happen. I mean, Cam's

30:14

coming off a game where he threw four

30:16

interceptions against that Bucks defense, and

30:18

then Rogers plays Atlanta

30:21

without Mike McCarthy. So kind of two

30:23

quarterbacks with some things that have happened

30:25

this past week. I think

30:27

I think I like Aaron Rodgers this week. You know, Atlanta's

30:30

defense, you know, can be thrown on. Obviously

30:32

they're playing at home. You know, Rogers does

30:34

play better at home there, and

30:37

Atlanta should be able to,

30:40

should be able to anyways, you know, put up

30:42

a big number themselves, so it'll force

30:44

Rogers to keep up, which I really

30:47

like. I really like that matchup

30:50

for Rodgers and for Matt Ryan as well. If

30:52

you've got Matt Ryan, I think he is, you

30:54

know, absolutely going to be a top eight fantasy

30:56

quarterback just given how the matchup

30:59

looks. You know, you take a look on the other sideline

31:02

and you talk about Cam Newton taking

31:04

on Cleveland. Cleveland's doing a pretty

31:06

good job limiting deep passes, but you

31:08

know, you talk about how there's going to be situations

31:11

where you know you're not going

31:13

to play can't. He comes in

31:15

with a lot of downside risk. You know, he has not looked

31:17

good the last two or three weeks, and

31:20

the shoulder injury I think is a major

31:22

major concern. Remember he had a

31:24

shoulder surgery. You know, I

31:27

don't want to say that recently, but you know it

31:29

is an issue, you know what I mean? So Pa, Yes,

31:33

absolutely, and it's he you

31:35

know, has an injury right now to a strong shoulder.

31:37

So yeah, he hasn't looked that great. He's coming

31:39

in with a little bit of an injury, taking

31:42

on a Cleveland defense that you know,

31:44

led by Miles Garrett, who's an absolute

31:46

monster out there. So yeah,

31:48

I think he does come with some downside risk

31:50

absolutely, And there are other

31:53

plays that I think would

31:55

be would behoove you in week fourteen, Week

31:57

one of playoffs. Speaking of other plays,

32:00

he's James Who's on the fringe this week? You

32:02

know, we talked about a guy like Andrew Luck who

32:04

everybody was praising for good

32:07

reason, and then he goes out puts

32:09

up a goose egg against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

32:11

He's got the Texans this week you mentioned

32:13

Matt Ryan, some other guys in the fringe, Mitchell

32:16

Trubisky, Russell Wilson. Who's there

32:18

that you kind of like? In week fourteen,

32:21

you know, I'm probably avoiding Mitch Trubisky

32:24

just because again, he's coming off from an injury as well. I

32:26

don't know how severe that shoulder injury

32:28

is, but I just hate hearing about shoulder injuries, especially

32:30

ones that are keeping them out for multiple weeks. So that

32:33

would be my concern there. Plus

32:36

he's taken on a Rams defense that is

32:38

starting to get a little bit healthier, right,

32:40

But keep to leave game number two back from

32:43

from ir Marcus

32:45

Peters. I'm not one hundred percent. I just don't

32:47

think he's one hundred percent, and I think he's been

32:49

nursing an injury but keeping it quiet. That's

32:51

just again just random speculation

32:53

on my part. But we do know that he did get

32:55

injured a few weeks back and really

32:57

hasn't missed any time, So that would just be my speculation.

33:00

But you know, I take a look and I think

33:02

Lamar Jackson off the waiver wire, you know,

33:04

if he's still available taking on Kansas City,

33:07

I think if that's not a bad matchup.

33:09

And Josh Allen too,

33:12

I think taking on at home, taking on the

33:14

Jets, I think that's a really good

33:16

matchup too, And quite frankly,

33:18

I think both of those guys

33:21

should absolutely be in the streaming

33:23

conversation. You know, you mentioned

33:25

Russell Wilson. He has been I mean,

33:27

he's just been terrific. But I

33:30

just I keep waiting for the wheels to fall

33:32

off, and they just don't. He is

33:35

he has the fewest pass attempts per

33:37

game in the NFL, and

33:40

this is a run first, run heavy

33:42

team. They're also in a really bad matchup

33:44

against Minnesota. So everything

33:47

on paper tells me from a volume and matchup

33:50

standpoint, don't play Russell Wilson. That

33:53

being the guy's just

33:55

magic. So I don't know what

33:57

to do with Russell. It's that's that's an

33:59

interesting one and a conundrum that

34:01

I have found myself in going back and

34:03

forth. Yeah, after those top eight

34:05

quarterbacks, there's certainly some

34:08

debate there, and I think that's why there's a little bit

34:10

of angst among amongst fantasy owners

34:12

going into the playoffs. James will move to

34:14

running back, and again let's start with

34:16

the Chargers. You got Austin Ekeler, Justin

34:19

Jackson. We talked about that Bengals defense,

34:21

rushing defense. They've given up at

34:23

least one hundred and ninety eight yards in five

34:26

games this year. Are you starting Austin

34:28

Eckler and Justin Jackson? Where do

34:30

you see them in a lineup this weekend?

34:33

You know, I have a I have a team that

34:35

actually has both. And I've got

34:37

Austin Eckler in as my RB two

34:39

and I've got Justin Jackson

34:41

in as my as my flax. I

34:44

just I don't prescribe to

34:46

the idea that you can't play guys on

34:48

the same team if they're on your roster. Look, you

34:50

analyze each player's matchup, and each

34:53

each player is going up against. Since

34:56

the Bengals defense that you know I alluded

34:58

to, is I believe the worse than the NFL right

35:01

now, and you talked about some of the staffs

35:03

that they're giving up on the ground. These

35:06

guys, they both can absolutely explode.

35:08

Now that being said, will

35:10

both have a good game, I'm not

35:12

sure, but I will say this, Um,

35:15

if you're playing both, I don't hate it. I

35:18

really don't hate it. Um. You know, I've

35:20

been talking up and down about how Justin

35:22

Jackson was absolutely worth an ad.

35:25

I liked the tape that I saw on

35:27

him, and I just kind of figured he'd filled

35:29

that Melvin Gordon role a little bit more

35:32

smoothly than Austin Eckler. And look,

35:34

man, you can go back to the shows

35:36

that we have done in the past. You know, I

35:39

love you were there. You

35:41

were there for the beginning, James, There's no denying.

35:44

Absolutely. I absolutely

35:46

love Eckler, and I love what Ken

35:48

wizzen Hunt is doing with Eckler too, moving

35:51

them all around right Like, they play him out wide,

35:54

they play him in the slot, they play him in the backfield,

35:56

they play him everywhere. It's great, but

35:58

that's where he really thrives, is

36:01

kind of being that, you

36:03

know, do it all kind of player, a

36:06

little bit of a slash if you will, you know, and that's

36:08

where he really can shine and uses athleticism

36:12

to make big plays. I don't

36:14

think he's naturally suited to being every down

36:16

running back, you know, early

36:19

down work I think is going to go to Justin Jackson,

36:21

And meanwhile the Nixon Austin Eckler quite a bit

36:23

as well. That that would just be my

36:25

thought in terms of skill sets.

36:27

So, but that's being said. If each

36:29

player sees about fifteen touches in this

36:31

game, which I think is absolutely doable.

36:35

Yeah, one hundred percent for sure. I think,

36:37

James, you know what, I think the keyword the keyword

36:40

you said is touches because

36:42

both of those guys can catch the ball out

36:44

of the backfield. It's not like Justin Jackson is

36:46

is just a run exclusive guy. He

36:49

had a nice nineteen yard reception

36:51

against the Steelers. He caught the ball a lot

36:53

at Northwestern, and we've seen the big

36:55

chunk plays that Austin Eckler can provide

36:57

in the passing game as well. That's right,

37:00

That's exactly right. So fifteen touches overall

37:03

for each player I think is absolutely doable.

37:05

Now, they might they probably won't get there. Fifteen

37:08

apiece, but they certainly could

37:10

and I tell think about twelve to fifteen for each player I

37:12

think is a pretty reasonable projection

37:15

for both. And yeah,

37:17

I mean I wouldn't expect huge numbers from either

37:19

player, but you know we're talking you know,

37:22

sixty five to eighty total yards

37:24

certainly a lot of exposure to

37:26

touchdown upside. So yeah, I

37:28

think they're both right there in the

37:30

PPR mix for sure. As an RB two flex

37:33

play A lot of these running backs at the top,

37:35

cut and dry, right, Girlie Zeke, if

37:38

you have James Connor, you're probably sliding in Jaylen

37:40

Samuel's there against the Raiders. I want to

37:42

ask about Adrian Peterson, especially with Mark

37:44

Sanchez under center, what are you doing there with

37:46

a D at this point? I mean, he seems

37:48

to have been a guy who you could rely on a little bit

37:51

at that that RB two maybe flex position.

37:53

I think things change a little bit with Sanchez

37:55

under center. Yeah, I mean they can

37:57

crow the box a lot. The offensive

38:00

line there from Washington too is really really

38:02

banged up. Uh, you know, they're down too

38:04

offensive guards and Trent

38:07

Williams is there but not one hundred

38:09

percent healthy either. Um. But

38:11

that being said, you know, les,

38:13

he'll see some volume, He'll see a lot of volume.

38:15

I wouldn't. I don't think the ceiling is very high.

38:19

You know, the floor is obviously not great

38:21

either. But you know, look, they're

38:24

playing at home. They're also taking on a Giants

38:26

team that is going nowhere. They

38:29

traded away Snacks Landon Collins, their

38:31

safety is on ir now

38:33

so their defense is really really banged

38:35

up and or just

38:37

you know, lacking the pieces that they

38:39

need to really stop the run as well. So I'm

38:42

not I'm not expecting a huge game from Majoran

38:44

Peterson, but I do think he's playable, and

38:47

certainly he does come with him downside risk. But I

38:50

mean when once we start getting

38:52

into this, you know, into outside the top

38:54

twenty five running backs, I mean, who doesn't come

38:56

with risk? Right, So he's

38:58

a player that I think that you know, you could,

39:00

you know, play in there as your RB two or flex

39:03

in the twelfth two deeper league and

39:05

you just kind of cross your fingers and hope for the best.

39:08

I know that they the offense is

39:10

not going to be great, and I know that, but

39:12

again, no Snacks, no Landon Collins.

39:14

These are these are two run stopping type players.

39:17

Um and an ad showed last

39:20

you know that he can break off a big one,

39:22

just one sometimes Yeah he

39:24

could still know it. He can still break off

39:26

that big one man. But um but

39:28

yeah, so I would play him, but certainly lower

39:31

expectations. I quickly before we get

39:33

to wide receiver, any other running backs,

39:35

any sleepers that you have your

39:37

eye on that people may want to look

39:39

hard at Week fourteen. Yeah,

39:41

you know, I you mentioned Jalen Samuels

39:44

and and I know that you know, people

39:46

are really excited about him, and you

39:48

know, people just think, you know Pittsburgh running backs.

39:50

Oh, just twelve and play and you're going

39:52

to get you know, top fifteen production. No,

39:54

man, look man, Jalen Samuels

39:57

is averaging two point six yards per carry right now,

39:59

and going back to his college

40:01

days, the most work he's ever

40:04

had on the ground is twelve carries in

40:06

a single game. Other than that,

40:08

the most carries has ever had is nine

40:10

carries in a game. So this

40:12

is not a guy that's used to a big workload,

40:15

and quite frankly, his skill set

40:17

is more of a change of pace pass catching

40:19

running back. So I'm

40:21

actually not really that excited about

40:24

Jaylen Samuel's And I know a lot of fantasy

40:26

analysts would disagree with me, and I

40:28

know a lot of fans would disagree with me as well, say,

40:31

oh, well, look look at th'angelo

40:33

Williams. When he plugged in, he was great. When

40:36

James Connor comes in, he's this guy's top

40:38

five running back. Yeah, And then

40:40

it's like, yeah, well, are we conveniently

40:42

forgetting the fact that Fitzgerald Tussan was an absolute

40:44

bust or the fact that D'Angelo Williams

40:47

on his second go round did not work

40:49

out at all.

40:51

Look, skill set matters, man, and

40:53

I know that they're going to get a lot of snaps

40:56

these running backs will. But something

40:59

in my mind and tells

41:01

me that Stephen Ridley's actually the better

41:04

play here. I don't have the I

41:06

don't have the stones to actually

41:08

put him in my playoff lineup.

41:11

But if you're playing DFS, for example,

41:14

I think Stephen Ridley is a terrific play

41:17

and there is a

41:20

decent chance I'll

41:22

give it a fifteen to twenty percent chance

41:25

that Ridley ends up being the lead

41:27

dog there in Pittsburgh walk

41:29

Honnor is away that I think there's

41:31

an actual good

41:33

chance that that actually happens. He's

41:35

a decent one cut guy. And for

41:38

me, he just reads more

41:40

of in every Town running back

41:43

with Jaylen Samuel's mixing in as the change

41:45

of pace. Guy. Listen, man, this is the

41:47

reason I bring you on, James Covi.

41:49

Is you spit knowledge Jalen Samuels.

41:51

You go back to his college days in terms

41:54

of just carrying the load, and

41:56

that's important. Man. Twelve carries, that's not

41:58

a ton of carries. But you know, maybe maybe

42:01

if if you're in a pinch and

42:03

you need a touchdown dependent

42:05

option in place of Connor, you start

42:07

him. But who knows? You're right? Stephen Ridley could be

42:09

that guy there. We shall see against the

42:11

Raiders wide receiver

42:14

again, if you have Keenan Allen, you

42:16

should be absolutely thrilled. Fourteen

42:18

catches on nineteen targets and

42:21

a touchdown against the Steelers.

42:23

He's at a score in four straight games. You're

42:25

starting him? We know that. I want

42:27

to ask you about the Williams brothers, Mike Williams,

42:29

Tyroll Williams. Are those guys cracking

42:31

your lineup? If you have him this week? I

42:36

just don't know what to do with them, you know, I mean,

42:38

they're both talented players, and you can throw

42:40

Charvis Benjamin the next Yeah,

42:43

it's it's it's a It's

42:45

one of those things where you know

42:47

you don't want the ingredients, you want the pie. And

42:50

for me, the pie is Philip Rivers. And

42:54

I like Mike Williams. I like him a lot. I

42:57

personally think he should see more targets

42:59

because he is so incredibly talented. But

43:01

right now this offense is humming. They're doing

43:03

well, and who am I to say, you

43:06

know, Mike Williams needs more touches when Philip Rivers

43:08

is doing a great job spreading it around, and

43:11

yeah, of course Keenan Allen's his primary target. I

43:14

love the by the way. I love the fact that Heenan

43:16

was asking for more work, you know, because I agree

43:19

I think he needs more work, and the fact that he

43:21

was demanding more targets

43:23

and got it. He certainly

43:25

got it nineteen he could,

43:32

you know, because I tell you what, man, the

43:35

offense really looks good

43:38

when Melvin Gordon is running it to the outside,

43:40

when Austin Ackler's mixing in, and when Keenan

43:42

Allen is just punching people with

43:44

body shots underneath and that's

43:46

when you get that Tyrolle Williams Mike Williams

43:49

over the top bomb. That's when you get that random,

43:52

you know, seam route from Travis Benjamin

43:54

for fifty You know what I'm saying. That

43:57

is really when this offense is looking

43:59

really nice and really unstoppable. But

44:02

um, even one of those guys, I just I

44:04

can't trust it. And again you're talking

44:06

winner, go home, playoff time.

44:09

I just I can't find myself to put them

44:11

in the lineup quickly before we get

44:13

to tight end. In defense, any sleepers

44:16

at the wide receiver position that you

44:18

would lean towards in Week fourteen

44:20

that maybe you wouldn't in other weeks.

44:23

Ah man, Um, It's it's

44:26

tough to say right now because of so

44:28

many injuries. I think if you needed a super

44:30

super deep sleeper, and

44:33

again I'm not I'm not advocating

44:35

this in redraft leagues, but maybe DFS tournaments

44:38

or something, DeShawn Hamilton I think certainly

44:40

steps into a pretty nice workload.

44:42

I'm actually relatively excited about Courtland

44:45

something too. That's just a you know, a

44:47

regular flex play in twelve

44:49

team or deeper leagues. But Dashawn Hamilton,

44:52

you know, look, Emmanuel Sanders goes down Dashawn

44:54

Hamilton was a great possession receiver, great

44:56

sought receiver at Penn State, and he

44:59

should be buffill in decently.

45:02

Um. Although I'll say this

45:04

too, I think Matt Lacosse at tight end. I

45:07

know we're about to get to tight end, but I think Matt Lacosse

45:09

is a decent sleeper. Uh there

45:11

in Denver two. I think I think he'll see

45:14

Um, I think he'll see you

45:16

know, six to eight targets, which is which is pretty

45:18

nice. Oh you know what, I absolutely totally forgot

45:21

Trent Sherfield in Arizona.

45:23

I actually think he's actually a good, solid sleeper

45:26

and he's a he's a total no namer and I

45:28

get it. But Trent Sherfield ran a four four

45:30

five forty, so he's got the

45:33

requisite speed and Christian

45:35

kirkos On I are, and this is

45:37

the guy that is going to be lining up outside. Meanwhile,

45:39

Detroit's defense on the

45:42

guarding against wide receivers not very good. So

45:44

I think they've given up the third most Fantasy points per

45:46

game to wide receivers over the last

45:49

four weeks, so it's a good matchup. He

45:51

walks into some decent volume. I

45:53

wonder if he sees five or six targets in this game.

45:56

And you know, my big thing is, of course, are yards,

45:58

how how far the ball goes down field. But

46:01

I think he walks into some pretty decent volume

46:03

stats as well. So decent volume,

46:06

good match up. You

46:08

know, obviously we're talking about a guy in

46:10

Trent Scherfield that who's a total known namer. So of

46:13

course he comes with a lot of risk

46:15

too. But you know, if you're looking for a

46:17

little something something, there's your guy. I

46:19

love it. I love it all right. Jame's final thing

46:22

tight it end defense. It's funny because

46:24

sometimes a Fantasy playoff

46:27

matchup is going to come down to whether or not you

46:29

get a tight end or a defense that hits

46:31

on that week. Give me a few names

46:34

both as a defense and a tight end

46:36

that that could maybe flip it for you. I

46:39

like I kind of sort of like Jordan Thomas

46:41

there in Houston. You know,

46:44

he's taken on Indianapolis defense that

46:47

can be had. Again, these

46:49

are these are guys that are just you know, a

46:51

little bit of wild cards. But you

46:53

know what, man, sign me up for Mark Andrews

46:55

too. And I know, I know

46:58

Baltimore is running out like three four tight end

47:00

at a time. But I'll

47:02

say this, you know, Lamar Jackson, when

47:04

we talk about mobile running quarterbacks, those

47:07

pairs so nicely with tight ends. And every

47:09

time I look up, Mark Andrews is just making plays.

47:12

Um, they're taking on Casey, so they're gonna

47:14

have to, you know, keep up a bit. So you

47:16

know, if it might be a situation where

47:19

Mark Andrews does nothing but late

47:21

in the game, you know, maybe he gets a couple of check towns

47:24

or whatever it is. But running quarterbacks

47:26

and tight ends, those just it's

47:28

like it's like hot sauce and fried chicken. Man, they

47:30

just go together, you know. And

47:32

and for whatever reason, I like Mark Andrews

47:35

and I think he makes a lot of plays. I

47:37

think Chris Herndon is is an

47:39

okay play, although he's got a really difficult matchup

47:41

against Buffalo. Um. But

47:43

you know what, I hate to say it,

47:46

man, but we're really just, you know, we're

47:48

just rolling the dice here with a lot of

47:50

tight ends. You know, you have to with the tight end position.

47:53

Though, James, it's been it's it's been that kind of year

47:55

for the tight end. YEP, it's sure, it certainly

47:57

has it absolutely certainly.

48:00

Defense finally, defense, uh,

48:03

defense is you know? Um,

48:05

I like the Giants defense this week obviously

48:07

because you know, Washington on their third fourth

48:09

string, you know, quarterback. That's not bad.

48:12

Um. I

48:15

kind of sort of think that Green

48:17

Bay's defense is playable

48:20

at home, although they're down a corner,

48:23

so you know that that that's certainly

48:25

a risky proposition. Um.

48:27

You know, and and again if you've got

48:30

the Jets defense too, Look, Buffalo

48:32

is not great, um offensively,

48:36

so I think the Jets defense

48:38

can can do some things. I think

48:40

Todd Bowles is is much

48:43

maligned, and but not for

48:45

very good reason. He has gotten a lot

48:47

out of his defenses. I like a lot.

48:50

And you know, it sounds like they're gonna let

48:52

him go and whoever signs him up as a defensive

48:54

coordinator is going to get a gem. I

48:57

really like Todd Bowles what he

48:59

has done with this defense. And

49:01

um, and I think, yeah, I think they can

49:03

get a couple turnovers on Buffalo? Why not? James
