0:21

Bows the official headphones of the Los

0:23

Angeles Chargers. Hey,

0:39

everybody, Chris Harry with you on a week

0:41

seven London edition of Chargers

0:43

Weekly. A bit later, Jim Wyatt of

0:45

Titans Online dot com will give you this week's opposing

0:48

view. But first, radio analyst

0:50

Daniel Jeremiah tells you how the Chargers get

0:52

to five and two in London going into their

0:54

bye week. All

1:04

right, please be with Daniel Jeremiah here

1:07

in Cleveland. It's been a heck of

1:09

a week, DJ, especially for you bouncing

1:11

back a little bit. So, I

1:13

let's see we did the game. I came in the day

1:15

before the game. I know the team came out on Friday,

1:18

right, So I came out, flew out on Saturday, got

1:21

in and later in the evening do the game Sunday

1:23

after the game's over, flew back to Los Angeles.

1:26

Dam My, regular NFL network stuff on Monday,

1:28

and then Wednesday night, which

1:31

was the last night. I believe these are all running together.

1:34

I got on the Red Eye with with money

1:36

and we flew and arrived in Cleveland

1:39

Thursday morning at six

1:41

thirty in the morning, and then we'll get on the

1:43

plane this evening and do another Red Eye.

1:45

So back to back red Eye, back to back red Eyes. Well have

1:47

you been to London before. I've never. I've never been, man,

1:50

I'm super excited about it. It's uh, it's

1:52

gonna try and cram a month's worth

1:54

of a sight seeing into in the forty eight hours. So

1:56

seriously, we're not gonna have a lot of time for that. But I just

1:59

have heard the fans over there, you

2:01

know, because there's only so many games. Oh, it's

2:03

a big deal, so they're into it's a big deal. No, it's gonna

2:05

be a lot of fun. For the atmosphere is pretty awesome. So I'm

2:08

pumped up. We're gonna sneak away and go see a little English

2:10

Premier League game and that's

2:12

cool. We'll double dip, we'll double trip

2:14

man, Well, let's let's go back to Cleveland. Very

2:18

resounding win. Oh yeah, Baker Mayfield sack

2:20

five times. It was a complete went all three phases.

2:23

I thought the low key hero was Desmond

2:25

King what he was in

2:27

special teams and the picks, and you

2:29

know that that first score the game was

2:31

set up by his punt return. He's been

2:33

awesome. I mean the last couple of weeks he's

2:36

just really been a huge lift to the team. And with the

2:38

special teams now a couple of weeks going solidified

2:40

that spot. And to me, you look

2:42

at the guy that's making great decisions on when to field

2:45

the ball. He gets north and south, there's no

2:47

there's not a lot of you know, backtrack and running

2:49

in the east and west. He gets positive yards,

2:51

he breaks tackles right now. It's just and it's taking

2:53

the money about just decisive. It's just like, Okay,

2:56

if you're gonna get seven ten yards, just that's fine,

2:58

that's great. And if you break it to a thirty two

3:00

yard win like he did on Sunday, that's even better.

3:02

And I think if you went back and studied it and

3:05

you can talk to special teams coaches around the league, you

3:07

you find punt returners that are going east and west,

3:09

you're gonna find a lot more penalties because that's when

3:11

you get the blocks in the backs and the holdings and all that

3:13

other stuff. You get north and south seems to be a

3:16

little bit less penalized. So he's been great

3:18

on special teams and then defense. I think coming into

3:20

the week in the last week, the probably been one interception

3:22

by a charger corner coming into the game last

3:24

week, so kind of waiting for that to happen, and

3:26

he got it kicked off, got the party kicked off

3:28

with a couple of them, and uh, you know, complete

3:30

win when you can run the ball like that, when

3:32

you can dominate up front on the defensive line, get

3:35

after the quarterback, and really outside

3:37

of the kind of flukey interception at the end

3:39

there that ricocheted off Melvin, this shouldn't count

3:41

for this, I know, but has just played

3:43

such clean football. I mean, that's that's

3:46

really a winning formula. I don't think it's

3:48

a coincidence that the last two weeks,

3:50

especially stopping the run, you stop that three headed

3:52

attack, then you stopped marsh On Linch the week

3:54

before court LEGiT's back by the way and he had

3:56

a second and a half. And he's doing both things.

3:58

I mean, he's helping with yet that interior

4:00

pass rush. He's also helping us up in the run. And Isaac

4:03

Richelle's has played better. He's you know, this is

4:05

uh And talking to some of the guys with

4:07

the team, just with not having Bosa there,

4:10

you know, you obviously you're missing a great player, but it's

4:12

given opportunity to some of these other guys get a lot of

4:14

valuable reps and eventually Bosa comes back.

4:17

They're already rotating and rolling a bunch of dudes,

4:19

and now you add a premier player like Bosa.

4:22

In the long run, this might end up having been

4:24

a good thing for the Chargers in their defense reps.

4:26

And you know, you look across the line.

4:29

I mean Damian Square was an undrafted

4:31

free agent player, a seventh round pick.

4:33

I mean, these guys that are playing valuable snaps

4:36

for the Chargers, And I love the fact

4:38

that when you get get these guys out there for you

4:40

know, thirty snaps and not having to have

4:42

her tongue dragging on the ground because you keep everybody

4:44

fresh, everybody, everybody wins. And to

4:46

me, I thought even last week when

4:48

you look at Jatavis not playing and you look at

4:50

Kaiser not playing, and then the

4:53

job they've done when they get out there in their sub and their dime

4:55

package and Phillips being

4:57

out in the field and playing really well, and um,

5:00

that's I mean, that's kind of a big deal when you don't have two

5:02

guys at win position. Wils who got some reps there

5:04

started the game, but it seemed like there was a lot of

5:06

time out there with with Adrian Phillips doing a good job.

5:08

Now I remember going to the season, you're pretty high

5:10

on that, that Ravens team, that Ravens defense.

5:13

Yeah, they got after Marcus Mariot eleven

5:15

sacks. I looked at all eleven sacks. A lot of

5:17

it came from the interior, it seemed like, and it looked

5:19

like it was the whole operation, like a lot of people

5:21

were at faulting. How much time did you have to dedicate to watch all

5:23

those you know, the Ravens Ravens dot

5:26

Com did a great job by just splicing them for that's

5:28

all I needed a lot of times. But

5:31

what did you see on those sex Well,

5:33

you saw every kind of breakdown when you have a number

5:35

that that's that's that big. You know, it's

5:37

not going to be one thing. There was. There was physical

5:39

beats where you had some one on ones where you just lost

5:41

a matchup. You had some mental beats

5:44

where on one of them it's you know, Conklin's at

5:46

right tackle and Judon bluffs

5:48

and backs out and Conklin loses the side

5:50

of him and he comes late, ends up kind of forcing

5:53

some chaos and ends up in a sack. And you had

5:55

Marcus Mariota dropping his eyes and kind of

5:57

running around and not keeping his head up, which

5:59

he kind of ran himself into a couple of sacks.

6:01

So you had confusion, you had physical

6:03

beats, you had just about

6:05

everything going wrong for them in that game.

6:07

Now the answer is the

6:09

question is what do they do going forward?

6:11

And the obvious answer would be they're gonna

6:14

run the heck out of the football, And I would

6:16

expect to see that in this game. Derrick Henry and

6:18

Dion Lewis see a lot of them. I think you'll see

6:20

tight ends, you'll see heavy packages, and

6:22

and then we either try and pound the football and find

6:25

a way to not put their quarterback in those situations.

6:28

So ten years ago was the last time the Chargers

6:30

played in London. It was a thirty seven

6:32

thirty two shootout loss to the Saints.

6:35

Drew Brees and the Saints. Entering Week six,

6:37

guess who's one and two in quarterback rating in

6:40

Philip Revers. It's just amazing

6:42

to me that at thirty six, Philip is playing

6:45

his best football taking care of the ball. We mentioned

6:48

that that tip that I wish didn't count on the

6:50

stad sheet, but he didn't have to

6:52

do a ton through the air on

6:54

Sunday because of those those horses in the

6:56

backstarm with Melvin Gordon. I'm gonna want

6:58

to look up this number. Here are these numbers because

7:00

I had him. You know, Pro Football

7:02

Focus, they do some cool things in terms of charting,

7:06

and when you look at what Phillip's done when he's

7:08

been moved off of his spot, I thought the numbers were really

7:10

interesting. Just he's got one hundred and twenty five

7:12

point seven passer rating this year when he's been

7:14

moved off the spot, three touchdowns, no picks.

7:17

So not only is he making good decisions

7:19

when everything's cleaning in rhythm, Phillip's been able to

7:21

extend some plays a little bit get out of trouble

7:23

and make things happen without putting the ball at risk.

7:26

So he just continues to amaze me.

7:28

I mean, I knew, I knew he was a great player,

7:30

but when you get a chance to watch him weekend and week

7:32

out and see how he works, how he studies, and how

7:34

he executes, he's just he's a

7:36

premier player. He's a premier player in the league.

7:39

And it's it's pretty fascinating to see. You

7:41

know, that draft and you look at you know, I know

7:43

Eli's got super Bowls and I know Ben's

7:45

got a super Bowl and he's going to be compared

7:47

with those guys. But man, when you

7:49

look at how consistent he's been and

7:51

the way he's playing right now, it's it's

7:53

to me, it's it's not close. He's

7:55

been outstanding. I want to give the

7:57

the ESPN NFL Matchup Show credit for this one

7:59

too. He has a ninety nine point five quarterback

8:02

rating when pressured. Yeah, Marcus

8:04

Barriota has the third worst in the

8:06

league. So just that juxtaposition there. Again,

8:08

they're gonna run the ball, I mean, when you just look

8:10

at those numbers right there, they're gonna try and you know, not

8:12

put him in that situation. The interesting thing is,

8:14

to me, I think a key in this ball game. If

8:17

the Chargers can jump on them early

8:19

and take that away from them and they can't

8:21

just be a one side, they're gonna run the football and

8:24

eat the clock, get them in a deficit position,

8:26

then I think that works. The Church team's averaging

8:29

just over fourteen points a game, thirtieth in scoring,

8:31

So if you can get a hot start going like he did

8:33

against Buffalo, like he did against Cleveland, it's the

8:35

way to go. And ripsher easily the best

8:37

dressed coach here, the coach

8:40

is the best, very sharp, very sharp. Absolutely,

8:42

we love speaking of tight ends. I

8:44

think Virgil Green is He's been great,

8:46

super underestimated. Yeah,

8:49

the whole group ball, the whole group. Yeah, the concern

8:52

you know, look, Hunter Henry is a rising star

8:54

in the league and that was just a huge injury

8:56

and hopefully, you know, who knows, maybe we get a chance to see

8:58

him before the season is up. But that to me,

9:00

you go to training camp and that was the question that

9:02

was asked and you know, this is a major, major concern,

9:05

and you know, bring bring Gates back. But

9:08

really all three guys have played a

9:10

pivotal role for this team. Virgil Green doing

9:12

it both as a receiver and as a blocker.

9:14

Culkin's been outstanding. Use him some as the f as

9:16

the fullback, use him some at the point of attack. He's

9:19

been great in the run game. And then Gates is Gates. He's

9:21

gonna He's gonna catch everything that comes his way. It's been

9:23

it has not been a weakness at all for this team.

9:25

When Philip needs a play, he goes eighty five. There you

9:27

go, you know, and it doesn't have to be you know, ten

9:29

targets a game. Yes, when he's a

9:31

player, he goes eighty five. But I mean, the biggest

9:33

compliment I can give to that group is you

9:35

haven't heard anything about him. You know, for

9:38

all the chatter about oh, this is gonna be

9:40

this is a very worrisome and this is gonna be kind

9:42

of the Achilles heel of this offense, haven't heard

9:44

anything about it because they've been rock solid. Did

9:46

you. I want to go back to that Titans offensive line Roal Cook,

9:48

because casually you look at it and you're like, okay, Jack Conklin

9:50

was a top ten some good individual pieces. Taylor Lawan

9:53

on the left side. It didn't look like la Wan side

9:56

was responsible for a ton of stuff, which

9:59

I guess what I'm saying is if Melvin Ingram

10:01

can't get after Lawan a little bit, I mean, can

10:04

you can really rereak some havoc. Yeah, you know,

10:06

one thing I will say, and getting to know Taylor

10:08

a little bit in Conklin going through the draft process,

10:11

good players. They're a they're very good players, They're

10:13

very talented, and they're very prideful. So after

10:16

what took place with the Baltimore Ravens, you can

10:18

be sure you're going to see their best in

10:20

London in this game. So I don't think it's

10:22

gonna come easy. You know, those the

10:24

eleven sacks that you know, don't get your

10:26

hopes up that you're going to see that if you're a Charger fan.

10:28

But if you can just if you can slow down that run

10:31

game, put them in some third and longs, you're

10:33

gonna be in a pretty good spot. Let's end

10:36

on Melvin Gordon because through six

10:38

games he got thirty receptions during

10:40

his Pro Bowl season in twenty sixteen, his high

10:42

end receptions was fourteen. Yeah, I mean, this is

10:44

obviously an added dimension to his

10:47

game and it's paying dividend for this offense.

10:49

Yeah, and I you know, I contend when you watch games

10:51

around the league, the best matchup, the most favorable

10:54

matchup you'll see in the passing game. Right now are these running

10:56

backs getting on linebackers. And that's you know, you see

10:58

a bunch of teams using that to the advantage.

11:00

And the Chargers, I think you can put right up there at the top in terms

11:02

of what they're getting production wise. Um, you

11:04

know you always talking about the tight ends on linebackers

11:07

being a great matchup. Well, to me, running

11:09

backs em more explosive, more dynamic, more explosive.

11:12

So if you can get them the ball out in the flat

11:14

and make one guy miss, you've got a chunk play.

11:17

You get them on some of these option routes, Melvin's

11:19

done a great job and Austin both when they're split out

11:21

wide, running wide receiver routes, running angle

11:23

routes, takeoffs, you name it, they're they're

11:25

getting it done. And to me, it's just such a favorable

11:28

matchup and the Chargers have done a beautiful job of

11:30

exploiting it. And you know, you talk to Philip

11:32

when when the Chargers offense has been at its

11:34

best over for the last decade plus he's been

11:36

here. They've had running backs get involved in the passing

11:38

game. He's just talking to some guy from the Draft Kings, and

11:41

we were talking about the Chargers offense in general, and

11:43

you know, Melvine is the mainstay. You know

11:45

Keenan's going to be there, and then you know guys

11:47

like Mike Williams, Tyrrell, they can go off at a moment's

11:50

notice. It's Tyrrell's a day on Sunday, it could

11:52

be Mike's day this Sunday. Yeah, they're gonna get

11:54

one on one coverage and you've got guys that can win. Now.

11:56

One thing I would keep an eye on here with Tennessee. When you go

11:58

back and watch the tape last week against

12:00

Baltimore, some of the plays they gave up back

12:02

shoulder throws, high

12:04

point fades, so to me, and

12:06

you look at the roster there a door

12:09

Jackson's not the biggest corner in the league. Malcolm Butler's

12:11

not the biggest guy in the league. And you look at some of the tall

12:13

trees the Chargers can throw out there, especially with

12:15

with Tyrrell outside and with mic outside.

12:18

I think you'll see a little bit of that in this game. I DJ

12:20

Finally, how did the Chargers get to five and

12:23

two in London going into

12:25

the buy? Well, I mean, I think you go back to what we said

12:27

a little bit early, jump on him early, get an early

12:29

lead on this game and create some doubt

12:31

with this Tennessee Titans team. So stop

12:33

the run defensively and jump

12:35

on him early with some early points, and I think

12:37

you have a good shot. I hope you get some sleep on

12:39

a plane. I

12:42

know what kind of I might have to borrow your iPad or

12:44

something to see what kind of movies you got wrong? Yeah? Nothing

12:46

great, nothing great, great, Yeah, I've got that.

12:48

I'll keep going here. I've got I've downloaded

12:50

an All or Nothing, the soccer one

12:53

on Manchester City. Maybe I know

12:55

nothing about Oh, so you're doing your pret I know

12:57

nothing about nothing about I

12:59

am, I really am. I know nothing about the Premier League

13:02

nothing. So I was scrowing. I found this. I'm

13:04

like, I love the all or nothings in the NFL on the

13:06

NFL. So I said, I'm gonna watch this one to see on Amazon.

13:09

I'm gonna learn the great sport of

13:11

soccer on this flight. That's my goal. That's

13:14

my goal. Thanks funny, see Bud. All

13:16

right, before we get to Jim Wyatt, a quick break

13:18

to let you guys know that this season we've taken

13:21

Chargers Weekly to the next level. That's

13:23

because I'm using Bows Quiet Comfort thirty

13:45

13:49

the official headphones of the NFL. All

13:54

right to get this week's opposing view. Very

13:56

pleased to be joined by Jim Wyatt of Titans

13:58

Online dot Com. Jim's been covering

14:01

the Titans since nineteen ninety nine. Jim

14:03

really appreciate you joining me. How are you, sir? I'm

14:06

doing great. I hope you're doing well, doing well? You ready

14:08

for London. Yeah, I'm ready. You know,

14:10

I've certainly I've seen people have been talking

14:12

about this trip for a long time. I can't believe

14:14

it's finally here. I know it's gonna be a crazy

14:16

week in the Titans practice in Nashville

14:20

on Wednesday and Thursday, and then we help

14:22

on a plane and leave Thursday after June and get

14:24

there I think about six thirty in the morning

14:27

Friday, ready to hit the ground of running. So

14:29

should be a whirlwind of activity,

14:31

but it should be a lot of fun as well. What

14:34

are players saying about this trip to London?

14:36

Jim, players have not talked

14:38

too much about it, and I think part of that's

14:40

because of what happened this past

14:42

Sunday. You get beat twenty one and nothing to

14:46

Baltimore, the first time the team had been shut

14:48

out in Nashville, and the team's

14:50

history give up eleven socks. I

14:53

think the focus here maybe is

14:55

making sure you get things fixed before

14:58

you leave town had to

15:00

London. I think certainly people

15:02

are looking forward to the Trump

15:04

and kind of what's ahead, but business

15:07

to take care of before before

15:09

leaving Nashville, and know a

15:12

good Chargers team is going to be waiting

15:14

for the Titans over there. Well,

15:16

Jim, it was a surprising score, especially

15:18

the way that the Titans started the year at least

15:20

twenty one nothing. And I think the the eleven sacks

15:23

were probably the most alarming. What

15:25

did you see on those plays? Was

15:28

it a complete operation failure?

15:30

Was it? Was it more the quarterback, the offensive line? What

15:33

was going on there? I think the combination

15:35

of a lot of those things that you mentioned. I

15:37

mean, obviously there were some there were protection

15:40

problems and some

15:42

of those in some cases, you know, the Ravens

15:45

just beat Titans offensive lineman

15:47

at the snap and just uh you

15:49

know, whether it was what's quickness or

15:51

whether it was strength, Uh, those

15:54

guys kept ending up in the backfield.

15:56

I think there were other times or maybe there were some communication

15:59

issues and Ravens some guys and they

16:01

were just not picked up the

16:03

way they needed to be. And then I think they

16:06

were occasions certainly late where

16:09

you know, Marcus Marriota just needs

16:11

to get rid of the football and by holding

16:13

it too long, you know, he put himself

16:15

in a position where he was sacked. So uh,

16:18

you know, other guys, you know, in addition

16:20

to the offense line, I don't give its tight ends running

16:22

bikes. I think when you give up eleven sacks,

16:24

I think everybody is to blame.

16:27

And uh, Scotty gets sixed because,

16:30

uh, you know it was Titans didn't have

16:32

a chance to win that game on Sunday because they just didn't

16:34

have a chance to throw the football. Yeah,

16:36

they only possessed the ball for just over twenty two

16:38

minutes in the game and one

16:40

for ten on third down. This isn't

16:43

the team though, that we've seen

16:45

throughout the first five weeks. Though,

16:47

Jim, you can't just take one

16:50

game and make a blanket statement. How

16:52

impressed have you been with the team up until this

16:54

point? Well, the first quarter was

16:56

great. I mean just throwing a

16:59

loss in a week one to Miami, which

17:01

was just a crazy game. You lose you

17:04

in a seven hour contest that had

17:06

two long weather

17:09

delays and the game just never really

17:11

had any flow. You know. The Dolphins

17:13

I think have ended up being better than people thought.

17:15

So I don't want to say that that was a bad loss.

17:17

It's just that's just one that kind of got away.

17:19

But I liked the way the team responded

17:22

and that he come back. You're beating the division

17:24

rival in the Texans was Blaine

17:27

Gabbert's quarterback because Markers

17:29

Mariota was dealing with an injury at that time.

17:32

You go to Jacksonville win a game

17:34

against you know, the team that won the division last

17:36

year when Mariota came off the bench,

17:39

and then you come back here and rally to beat the

17:41

defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia

17:44

Eagles, and I think you had to feel

17:46

pretty good about the way things are going

17:48

in the last two weeks. You know, the you

17:50

know, the Buffalo game before

17:53

the Baltimore game was just one out won

17:56

of frustration. The team turned

17:58

the ball over three times, just never

18:00

really got in sinc on offense

18:03

and h and really just kind of let one get

18:05

away. It was a different loss

18:07

on Sunday, Man, the team just flight out got beat.

18:10

It was ugly and every facet you know, offensive

18:13

we talked about, couldn't protect the quarterback,

18:15

couldn't move the football. Just seven

18:18

first downs and one hundred and six yards of offense

18:20

and then defense, and we just couldn't get off the field

18:23

on third down and couldn't

18:26

get any pressure on Joe Flacco who just kind

18:28

of picked him apart. So back to back

18:31

weeks really bad before

18:33

that. I think things are looking good, and I think

18:36

that's what it asked the frustrations. This team has shown

18:38

it can be better than it's been the last couple

18:40

of weeks, and now you've got to find a way to

18:43

get back to doing that. And you mentioned

18:45

how long up and covering the Titans

18:47

about nine. I know the history

18:49

between these two teams, whether they're in San Diego

18:52

or Long Scene or the Chargers have kind of had

18:55

the Titans number and one to eight out of nine

18:57

in the series since the Titans became the

18:59

Titans, and Philip Rivers

19:01

always given this team trouble. So it's a tough,

19:04

tough matchup and you got a figure out a

19:06

way to get some thanks fixed the

19:08

Chargers coming off a win against the Cleveland

19:10

Browns. What do you think the biggest challenge is

19:12

for the Titans, Jim in defending

19:15

this Chargers offense. They had

19:17

two hundred forty six rushing yards last

19:19

week, which was the really their highest output

19:21

in nearly a decade. But then you also got

19:24

Philip Rivers who's got a balance attack.

19:26

What do you think the biggest challenge is for this Titans defense?

19:28

Who has played well this year. Yeah,

19:31

I think, yeah, those two. I mean,

19:34

Gordon is a beast and certainly

19:37

hurts you in so many different ways. The Titans

19:40

have not been as sound

19:42

as as they needed to be stopping the run.

19:44

I think that's got to be number

19:48

one point of emphasis

19:50

is getting the run

19:52

defense fixed where you're able to shut

19:54

teams down. His team has been good, it's a run

19:57

in past years, it hasn't been really good against

20:00

run this year or so that has to

20:02

happen with With that said, Bilip Rivers

20:04

is playing great football right

20:06

now. Uh, you know, he can pick you

20:08

apart. Uh. Teams got to

20:10

find a way to get both aspects

20:13

of that defense ready to go on

20:15

Sunday and uh and got to find a way to

20:17

you know, to create pressure in

20:20

no stocks of the Titans last year. The Ravens

20:22

were last week, I should

20:24

say where the Ravens were for lasting Mariota.

20:26

The Titans just weren't doing anything to disrupt

20:29

Joe Flacco. And I think with Rivers, you've got

20:31

to put a little pressure on them and uh make

20:33

them someone uncomfortable and uh

20:36

and and stopping the run along

20:39

the way, Jim got a

20:41

new head coach in Tennessee and Mike Vrabel,

20:43

Matt Lafloor the offensive coordinator. What's

20:46

the identity of this offense in that? What

20:48

do they want to do? Do they want to run the football

20:51

with with Derek Henry and Dion Lewis

20:53

or do they want to be more of a balance

20:55

attack try to get more more of Corey Davis

20:57

involved. Well, I just come

21:00

really honest, I don't think this team has an identity on

21:02

offense yet because it hasn't really been able to do anything

21:04

consistently. I think the ladder of the two is

21:07

what the team wants it's identity

21:09

to be, and that to have a ballot attack, you

21:12

know, throwing the football and running

21:15

it. And you know, unfortunately this team hasn't

21:17

had a lot of success on the football. David Henry

21:19

hasn't really looked like himself,

21:22

He's been frustrated with his play beyond Lewis

21:25

has not had a really breakout game

21:27

himself. So the run game that's been kind

21:30

of stuck in the mud a little bit here

21:32

of late. And offensively a

21:34

great showing against the Eagles

21:36

where you know, con Davis had one hundred

21:38

and sixty one receiving yards called a game

21:41

winning cuts down pass and overtime to win

21:43

it. That's the lay it's supposed to look,

21:45

but it just hadn't looked like that in a lot of

21:48

games. Team been shut out three out of

21:50

six games this year, at least kept out the end zone,

21:52

I should say, if kicked field goals in some of those games,

21:54

and no touchdowns in three games this year, and

21:57

no touchdowns in back to back games

22:00

both losses. Just kick field goals

22:02

against Buffalo and then shut out against Baltimore.

22:04

So people have asked

22:06

me what this identity of this offense is,

22:09

and six games in, you

22:11

know, I think still looking to figure out what that's gonna

22:13

be. Jim, Who are a few guys on

22:15

the Titans the Chargers fans should

22:18

have eyes on outside some of the

22:20

obvious names, the Corey davis is, the Marcus

22:22

Mariota's and some of the names that

22:24

we see each and every Sunday. Who were guys

22:26

that we should be on the lookout for. Wembley, Well,

22:29

I think on the offensive side of the ball. You know, everybody

22:32

knows Henry, but the question

22:34

is is whether or not you know he's going

22:36

to look like he did at the end of last

22:39

season. When he had a great game against

22:41

the Chiefs and the playoffs and this team was rolling.

22:44

So while Marcus Marriot and Cory

22:46

Davis certainly that's the receiving team, you

22:49

know, Derrek Kenners got to emerge. This

22:51

team is looking for playmakers at missus

22:53

Delaney Walker, there's no question about that.

22:56

Says you've got to have a number of guys dump

22:59

ump and um and and

23:01

kind of help. UH make

23:03

that void not so big and so

23:06

obvious. So I think Henry

23:09

Davis Mario on the offense the side

23:11

of the ball. Uh. You know some

23:13

other young receivers, you know ty Jay Sharp,

23:15

Taywan Taylor, just really

23:17

in their second years. They need

23:20

some more consistency. I think, uh,

23:22

I had an entire passing game to have

23:24

some success. I want the defense aside the Bowl.

23:27

You know, Kevin byrd is a

23:29

is a Pro Bowl and All Pro last years and

23:31

had UH ten takeaway He's led

23:34

the league in that category. He's coming off the game where

23:36

he had an interception. Uh. I think

23:38

the feeling ears as I hope it is a

23:40

signed to come and then uh Hero

23:42

Landry was signed. Evs A couple of ukies,

23:45

UM one defense, A couple of early draft

23:47

picks. I think those guys are going to continue

23:49

to get better the more they play and uh

23:52

and uh, and then draw Casey on the defensive

23:54

line. Um, you know, had

23:58

been very disruptive once again, he's a three

24:00

time Pro bowler, probably the best player

24:02

on this defense. He needs to play

24:04

well. One last Guy'm gonna mention him because he didn't play

24:06

it hasn't played the last couple of weeks, and I think that explained

24:09

some of the reason why this Titans deeper struggle

24:11

a little bit. Leslie Woodward looked like

24:13

he's going to be back in the mix after

24:15

missing a couple of games. He's kind of their defensive

24:18

leader. He's you know, he led

24:20

this team and tackled before his injury. He they

24:23

desperately need him back in the mix. Jim,

24:26

final thing for me, what do you think is going to

24:28

decide this game across the

24:30

pond at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. Well,

24:33

I think it's it's whether or not the Titans

24:35

can protect the quarterback better than

24:37

this past week. And if able to do that, maybe

24:40

the running game and the passing

24:43

game can work together and U

24:45

and the Titans can score some points. I mean

24:47

this this team is among the

24:50

worst in the league and scoring points and uh,

24:52

I look at the Chargers and one

24:55

of the top teams in the league and scoring and coming

24:57

off the game, we put up thirty eight points in Cleveland.

24:59

So the Tides are gonna have to have some success

25:02

on offense, and that includes stopping

25:05

Mariota and into defensively, and we kind of talked

25:07

about some of the keys. I mean, they got to figure out a way

25:09

to destruct rivers a little bit while

25:11

stopping the run, and um, you

25:14

know saying and it's a challenge because you

25:16

know, the Chargers seem to be flied high

25:19

heading into this game, while the

25:21

Titans are kind of licking

25:23

the wounds and looking to get back on track.

25:26

So I

25:28

think these London games, obviously, looking

25:30

at the history of these things, you just never know

25:32

what's happening in these games, and the high

25:34

teams canna adapt to the travel. So I

25:37

think that's kind of a wild card that's that's

25:40

thrown in the mix as well. Well. We're looking

25:42

forward to getting over there, looking forward to seeing you, Jim. Have

25:44

you done a trip like this with the Titans? I

25:47

have not. I guess the closest thing too, is then the

25:49

last season we uh know how

25:51

to back to back West Coast games at Arizona

25:54

and San Francisco, and the team

25:56

flew to Arizona playing the game and spent the entire

25:58

week on the West Coast before

26:01

the game against San Francisco.

26:04

That's just close to it. I've never been

26:06

a part of a London game, certainly

26:09

looking forward to it, realizing that I'll

26:11

be operating with not a lot of sleep over

26:13

there, overnights

26:16

light and kind of hit the ground running,

26:18

and then you know, if I do get a

26:20

spare moment and one of think about taking

26:22

a nap. Also wouldn't mind at least kind

26:25

of checking out the surroundings a little bit. But

26:27

there's not a lot of time to do anything. I mean, this

26:30

team gets only again at six in the morning on

26:33

Friday. You're gonna walk through in a practice, so

26:35

Friday's gonna be fooled. There's a walk through on Saturday,

26:37

and then there's a game on Sunday,

26:40

and then fly back to Nashville after

26:42

the game. So there's not gonna be a lot of time

26:45

for anything but football and getting ready to play.

26:47

But I'm hoping I can at least kind

26:50

of check out the setting and banks

26:53

to see the fan base. I know the charges.

26:55

I fans all over the country, and I'm

26:57

sure they're gonna be well were represented due, and

27:02

I should say well all over the world. I think

27:04

the Titans just judge from

27:06

a mailbag that I do and judging from people

27:08

on Twitter, man, it sounds like a lot of Titans fans

27:10

over in the UK, and I know a lot of people from

27:12

Nashville and making the trips. I'm just kn't of care see

27:15

what that whole game day setting

27:17

is gonna be like. I've seen them on TV and

27:19

washed them and always been fascinated by

27:22

just excitement and that

27:24

goes along with the NFL playing in London,

27:27

and I am looking forward to seeing it firsthand

27:29

myself. I'm excited to be a part

27:31

of this experience. It's gonna be a lot of fun. And Jim, I hope,

27:33

I hope to see you before the game. But I

27:35

really can't thank you enough for your time and your insight

27:38

on the Titans. And we'll see you at Wembley.

27:41

Okay, sounds good, I'll see Okay. I appreciate it and

27:43

that'll do it a big thanks to Jim Wyatt and Daniel

27:46

Jeremiah for joining me, and of course thanks

27:48

to you all for listening. You can find Chargers Weekly
