Regions in red level protections will move to orange at the end of December, the government has announced. The only exception is Northland, which will stay in red until cabinet next reviews the settings in mid-January. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says the timing for Auckland gives it more time to identify any unknown areas of virus spread.
