MetService has issued multiple weather warnings and watches across the country for heavy rain, strong wind and snowfall. The forecaster said the wild weather could also bring thunderstorms accompanied by heavy downpours. Flights were cancelled in Nelson and Christchurch and Metservice warns that streams and rivers could rise rapidly causing surface flooding and making driving hazardous.
