This week has not been without its surprises. My husband and I are still in a state of disbelieve; what do you do when someone you have known for years does something so out of character? Twenty years ago I would have quick to be filled with righteous indignation. I would have walked around with a spiritually superior attitude and been shocked at the behaviour of my friend.Twenty years ago I was filled with my own self-importance. Now twenty years later, I have matured. I can not stand as judge and jury of my friends; they are going through enough without me added to their trouble. Looking back at times when I did act as judge and jury how Christian was that!? Not at all!In our city there is a self proclaim expert of the gospel who has a long standing Cable show, now i bring him up because he is both fascinating and horrifying at the same time. This man truly thinks he is helping. he truly thinks he is doing God's will. But the God in whom he serves -- well I'm glad I don't have a relationship with that God! His God is cruel. His God sees only the evil in man. His God would have him condemn his friends and out cast them from his life. The First Testament is the love of this Man's love. The Second Testament he searches for only those things that support his negative view of God's Divine Love. the First Testament is filled with God at His most righteous, His most avenging. But this is also the God who cares deeply for Israel, as a mother cares for a child. This God of support and care is the God I wish to follow. This God for whom man maybe failed and need of reconciliation, confession, but still is worthy of love and forgiveness.Corinthians speaks so wonderful of love and how we should treat others in that love. It was to Corinthians that I went as an example of how to handle, deal and treat my friends, and there I found the beauty of God's wisdom. He seemed to be saying in 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 don't brow beat your friends, stand with them in prayer, pray for renewal of their lives, renewal of their commitment or that My will be done in their lives. It's not up to you do decide what should be done, you must be a silent partner in this.
