Dealing with depression
Mental health and depression still remain fairly taboo subjects amongst men, so when Matt reached out and said I needed to bring him on the podcast to share his story I was all ears.
Having been diagnosed with depression at the age of 18, Matt is now one of the most promising political commentators coming from the UK and regularly contributes to the BBC, The Independent and The Huffington Post.
In today’s episode we cover some extremely important topics surrounding mental health issues amongst men, and what to do if you feel like you might be struggling but aren’t sure where to turn.
Topics covered include:
- The difference between depression and feeling depressed - What to do if you feel like you’re ‘down in the dumps’ a little longer than usual - The sensitive subject of medication. The pros. The cons. The truth. - Simple proactive ways in dealing with depression - The importance of a healthy morning routine and proper nutrition - How your creativity can suffer, but ultimately how it can help you move forward - Matt’s top tips for turning your creative passion into your career - Why goal setting is a very important aspect of good mental health
