We live in a world that has a lot of questions. What’s the purpose of life? What is the value of my life? Why is there so much evil in the world? Why is racism still so rampant? What is gender and sex? The list could go on and on and the questions seem to grow every day. And these questions that are being asked, aren’t just theoretical. They are deeply personal and often come from an experience of pain. Our culture is confused and this confusion is causing a lot of hurt and brokenness. Jesus knows what it is to live in a confused culture. There were questions in his day, just like there are in ours. Jesus didn’t stay neutral when asked these deeply personal questions. He felt the pain in people’s hearts too much to leave them with no answers, or just superficial, pithy sayings. What Jesus did, time after time, is point people back to how God originally intended things to be and from that perfect harmony teach clarity into the confusion surrounding him and restore hope. This summer Christ Church we are going to be following Jesus’ example by going through a sermon series in Genesis 1-3. I don't think I have ever been more nervous about how a series will go, as we are going to be hitting incredibly controversial topics, such as: the value of human life, the purpose of life, gender, sex, race relations, evil and justice, etc... This might be the sermon series that puts us out of business... However, I deeply believe that God wants to speak to us about these things and not leave us confused in the dark, but give us His light for our good and the good of neighbors that we will get to share with. This sermon series will be starting on July 3rd and go through August 28th. If you have questions, if you know someone who has questions, if you have felt unprepared for questions that you get asked, join us as we seek to find some clarity in our confused culture and bring hope to our hurting world.
