Welcome to the Christians In Rome podcast. My name is Joe Harrison, I’m 26 years old and—obviously—a born-again Christian. I received Jesus Christ as my Savior when I was 7, and my life (and faith) has been a rollercoaster ride ever since. And there are a lot of things that I believe God has been teaching me, and my hope is to be able to share with listeners some of what I believe I have learned. I am not seeking to teach because I know I am not qualified to do so. But like any of us can, I believe that I can help us find God and ourselves in a world of religious confusion. Being a self-taught Church historian, I would never make such an ignorant claim that things are worse for the Bride of Christ now than they ever have been. But I do believe things are pretty bad. And in this show I am seeking to pose and disect the questions: have we played a part in this mess—specifically here in the United States of America—and if so, what part? Are things getting more difficult because the World hates us, or because we hate the World? Are we being antagonized, or are we being the antagonist? Are we being true Martyrs for Christ, or are we just looking for the praise of our fellow Christians? Are we, as Ambassadors of Christ, in control of our Political System, or is our Political System in control of us? Potentially harsh questions with even more potentially harsh answers. And I want to do my best to be fair and respectful as I delve into this complex web of confusion in an attempt to remind us of our roots. To remind us who we are, why we are here, and who we are here for.
