On this part 2 episode of Cigars and Sea Stories, Michael J. Penney and Bennett tanton talk about firearms and their use as tools.

The principles of small arms are taught aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico at the small arms weapons / foreign weapons instructors course. The objective of the course is to train individual students how to handle weapons and instruct others how to employ them. This knowledge is continually handed down through out generations of warfighters, young men and women, who we hold responsible for guarding our shores and waging war on behalf of the people against enemies in far-away lands.

It takes those skilled in violence to protect our civil liberties from those who seek to diminish them. Such has been our way of life since the origins of our nation. In 1791 we stamped into history a clearly defined enabling document, and in doing so, laid down the foundation for liberties our future generations must continue to enjoy. That requires training the virtuous to wield a power of destruction greater than themselves in order to defend against individuals hellbent on unleashing evil.
