Sergeant Chad T Lane was born on December 31st, 1985 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to Larry and Pauline Lane.

Sergeant Lane attended K-10 school at North Winneshiek School in rural Burr Oak, Iowa and graduated from Decorah High School in 2004. Sergeant Lane enlisted in the delayed entry program in December 2003 and departed to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego in July 2004 graduating October 22nd, 2004 as a PFC. Upon completing basic training PFC Lane reported to The School of Infantry West, Marine Combat Training Battalion on Camp Pendleton Ca. Following Marine Combat Training, PFC Lane transferred to Camp Johnson, North Carolina for Motor Transport Maintenance Course where he received the MOS of 3521.

In May 2005, LCpl Lane received orders to MWSS 172, 1st MAW in Okinawa, Japan where he held the billets of Haz-Mat & Safety NCO, Squadron Range Coach, Training NCO and briefly served as the Company GySgt in his absence.

In March 2007, Corporal Lane went to Iwo Jima in support of the annual memorial ceremony.

In May 2007, Corporal Lane reported to Marine Corps Embassy Security Command for Marine Security Guard School. Upon graduation he was promoted to his present rank in August 2007 and was chosen as the second best Marine by peer evaluation within his student detachment.  On August 12th, Sergeant Lane PCS’d to Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo where he served as Supply NCO, Training NCO, Response NCO, Assistant Detachment Commander and Acting Detachment Commander.

In February, 2008, Sergeant Lane went TAD to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania in support of President Bush and Secretary of State Rice’s visit. In May 2008, Sergeant Lane went to Jerusalem, Israel in support of President Bush and Secretary of State Rice’s visit to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Nation of Israel.

In August 2008, Sergeant Lane transferred to Astana, Kazakhstan for duty as Assistant Detachment Commander, he also held the billets of Mess NCO and Response NCO. While in Astana he received a Meritorious Mast and Certificate of Commendation for noteworthy performance during two semi-annual inspections and a Certificate of Commendation for Detachment of the Year 2008 for Region 1. While in Astana, Sgt Lane was twice nominated for meritorious promotion to SSgt.

Sergeant Lane transferred to Algiers, Algeria in June 2009 for duty as the Assistant Detachment Commander and Vehicle NCO. While in Algiers, Sergeant Lane received a Meritorious Mast for noteworthy performance during a semi-annual inspection.

Sergeant Lane reported to 1st Battalion, 5th Marines in July 2010 where he served on the Police Advisor Team as the Motor Transport NCO and logistics chief.

Sgt Lane was honorably discharged from active duty in May 2012 after 8 years of service.

Sgt Lane’s personal awards include Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and multiple Certificate of Commendations, and Letters of Appreciation.

Chad Lane has been employed in the HVAC industry since August 2012 and currently commercial service technician. Chad also serves as a contract auctioneer and ring man.

Chad has a bachelor’s degree in business from University of Phoenix.

Chad has been happily married to his wife Crystal (Portillo), a National Guard Combat vet since November 10, 2012 and is the proud father of three children, Christina, Jacob and Josie.

Chad credits his success to the support of his wife, his strict upbringing by his family who come from a long line of Norwegian farmers and nurses, excellent friends and mentors and most importantly, his faith in Jesus Christ.
