This Sunday, co-lead pastor Alex Leyva continued our sermon series in Colossians with verses 2:16-23. Why does it matter that we're able to tell what is real versus what is not real? Because what is not real has no value. As believers, we devote ourselves to the true Gospel, so we can identify false teachings. 

In these verses, we learn about Legalistic Larry, Hyper-spiritual Hank and Mystic Mary: all false teachings plaguing the church of Colossae that can also affect us today. How do we avoid these heresies? By testing the substance, testing the growth and devoting ourselves to the true Gospel. Praise God! We don't need to add anything to Jesus to be saved—it is only by faith in him.
