STEM SERIES PART 5:  The Art of Learning: Crafting a STEAM-Powered Classroom

In this episode, we're diving deep into the vital strategy of captivating students through real-world challenges, with a special focus on the impact of STEM education.

Education is a dynamic landscape, constantly evolving. Educators play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between theory and practice to ensure learning remains relevant and meaningful. One potent avenue toward this goal is through real-world problem-solving, embracing the core tenets of STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Add the "A" for Art, and you have STEAM, infusing the design process with an artistic flair.

Whether you're incorporating STEM, STEAM, or both, the result is tangible: students better prepared for the demands of the 21st century.

In this eposide, we have the privilege of sitting down with Dr. Cassie Quigley and Dr. Danielle Herro, co-authors of "An Educator's Guide to STEAM," a comprehensive resource exploring the transformative power of integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics in education. Dr. Quigley chairs the Department of Teaching, Learning, & Leading, and serves as a professor of Science Education at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Education. Danielle Herro is the Co-Director of the Digital Media and Learning Labs, and a professor of Learning Sciences in the College of Education at Clemson University.

Together, they unpack what sets STEAM apart from STEM and how educators can leverage it to captivate students from kindergarten through 8th grade.

This episode is all about laying the groundwork for a STEAM-powered classroom, exploring its essence, and providing educators with the tools to establish a solid foundation for their students' future success.

Stay tuned as Dr. Cassie Quigley and Dr. Danielle Herro share invaluable insights to help you craft a dynamic STEAM classroom.
