With God at His side, all David does is win win win, no matter what.  These victories are confirmation of the covenant promises God had just made to the king one chapter earlier.

But the victories are also problematic in their own way.  Is victory in the Kingdom of God just about crushing enemies and collecting riches and building empires?  Or is there a greater King with a greater victory to offer?
