Hey guys , jason and I'm recording

0:03

all by my lonesome , because , well , jared

0:06

is a bastard .

0:11

It's not always fun and games for first

0:13

responders , but

0:16

sometimes it is , sometimes

0:24

it's dangerous , sometimes

0:27

it's not and

0:30

sometimes it's just plain

0:32

stupid . This

0:36

is the stupid side of first response

0:38

. This

0:42

is code 0.5 .

0:47

Alright , guys , I'm going to explain

0:49

to you exactly why Jared's

0:52

a bastard . So I'm going to

0:54

well , in this episode I'm going to recap

0:57

over what we did last week with I

1:00

believe it was last week . My days are kind

1:03

of all mixed together One last week , it was a week

1:05

before . Anyway , that doesn't matter . We

1:07

all went to , like we

1:09

talked about before , the Sheriff's Association , the

1:12

conference I have every year , and

1:16

, yes , I'm going to have me a beverage , since I'm at

1:18

home and all by myself , an

1:23

adult one . Anyway , the

1:26

day we recorded there I was

1:28

in pretty close proximity

1:31

with some other guys . And

1:34

later on we get talking

1:36

to Jared and he's talking about how he's been waking

1:38

up in the middle of the night . He's been having like

1:40

a fever and

1:43

he just wasn't feeling real good and I can't

1:45

remember all the crap

1:47

he was saying . I don't know , hershey , squirts might have

1:49

been involved , I don't know . And

1:54

let's see , we go to

1:56

the banquet

1:58

. After the banquet , we all

2:00

got together and I

2:04

wasn't feeling good . All of a sudden I got like this head

2:06

cold . My head started stopping

2:08

up . I kept , you know , my nose

2:10

was running and then it would stop up and then

2:12

I kept coughing . I

2:16

had like a tickle in my throat and I kept pulling

2:18

a renex . I wouldn't stop freaking , coughing . And

2:22

I wake up that next morning and my wife

2:24

she's a nurse and she pulls out

2:27

all her crap and tests

2:29

me , and I tested positive

2:32

for COVID . So I'm

2:34

going to tell everybody that Jared gave

2:36

me COVID . So I was sick

2:39

for like a week . Three or four of

2:41

those days I thought , like especially

2:44

three of those days , I felt like I was going to die

2:46

, but you

2:48

know , magically I survived it . And

2:50

Captain Chop , he

2:53

got COVID too

2:55

, and then he blamed me for that . But you

2:58

know , still , in turn , I got it from Jared

3:00

. So Jared actually gave it to Chop

3:02

. So , chop , if you're listening

3:05

to this , you need to be blaming Jared for

3:07

all the pain and suffering

3:09

that you had to go through for however long

3:11

you were out . I only think

3:13

he was out for like a couple

3:15

of days , though , because he must

3:17

have got like the weak version of it

3:20

, and I got the manly

3:22

version . So it actually knocked me down

3:24

longer than Chop . But I

3:27

mean , I'll just leave that up to you guys to debate

3:29

about . So

3:31

anyway , on this episode I'm going to recap . Over

3:34

the conference

3:37

that we were at , I had people asking

3:39

questions or like wait a minute , what do you all ? What

3:42

do you mean ? You're at a conference and or

3:44

whatever , and you

3:47

know this relates and goes back to I

3:51

don't know . Some people are just assholes

3:53

. Anyway

3:56

, at this conference that we were at

3:58

, they have it's

4:00

five days long and of

4:02

those five days , one of the days

4:04

you get to really meet with vendors and

4:07

talk about new technologies coming out

4:09

and how you

4:12

can take those news and aspects

4:14

of law enforcement , which

4:16

are all great things . Three

4:20

of those five days they

4:22

have from 8am to like

4:25

five or 6pm , they

4:27

put on training . So I

4:29

don't know if you guys know this , but we're

4:31

required to have , like

4:34

mandatory training , continuing education

4:37

, every year . So we'll have , you

4:40

know , we have to have so many mental health hours

4:42

of training and then we have to have continuing education

4:45

. Well , a lot of

4:47

guys will go to this conference to meet their

4:49

training requirements for the year . I

4:52

think so far this year I've

4:55

I've gotten right around 120 hours

4:57

of training this year , which

4:59

is like a I'm like five

5:02

to 600% over the minimum requirements

5:04

that you can have . So

5:07

during the conference , you know

5:09

, you learn so

5:11

many things there's , you know attorneys there

5:13

that'll have legal updates , there's organizations

5:16

there that'll talk to you about processing

5:19

crime scenes and they'll

5:22

even have some mental health stuff to talk with

5:24

guys about and you can basically wrap

5:26

up your entire year's worth of training

5:28

by just going to this conference . I

5:33

think by far the

5:35

best part of the whole conference . I

5:37

mean , not only do you get to meet

5:40

other deputies and sheriffs , especially

5:42

in neighboring counties , that way if you ever

5:44

have something you know and you need

5:46

help with , you've got some kind of rapport

5:49

with the guys that you're working with and

5:52

you know just it always makes the situation better

5:54

. Anytime you can go out and work , a call . And

5:56

if you've got another agency that's helping you , if

5:58

you've got some kind of rapport

6:01

or connection with that person , it'll

6:04

run that much smoother . You

6:06

, you know you can trust the person and

6:08

it just makes the entire

6:11

process and then the outcome so

6:13

much better if you have that kind of rapport . So

6:17

you have three days worth of training . You have one

6:19

good solid day of

6:21

learning about new technology and techniques

6:24

and then meeting everybody and

6:26

then on the last night they'll

6:28

hold a banquet

6:30

. And I know

6:33

we don't really talk about the

6:35

agencies we work for , because I

6:40

mean , we just don't talk about them . They

6:42

, if they want to

6:45

get on here and put out

6:47

that we do whatever

6:49

you know exactly what we do

6:51

for that agency , they'll tell , they tell the

6:53

community for us . They

6:56

go to the news or Facebook

6:58

or wherever and they publish out all that

7:00

information about us . But

7:03

the sheriff's office

7:05

that I work at is one

7:08

of the and I could be wrong

7:10

, I'm sure I'll hear about it tomorrow but

7:12

the sheriff's office we work at

7:15

is one of the highest decorated

7:17

sheriff's offices in the state

7:19

and at the

7:21

banquet that they have sorry

7:26

, I had to keep getting some of the drink , like I'm

7:28

still like post COVID , so I

7:32

haven't gotten my my taste

7:34

back really , but I'm thirsty

7:37

a lot . Anyway , during

7:39

the banquet that they have , they'll have

7:42

a guest speaker come and they talk about

7:44

, you know , new things that

7:46

the sheriff's association is going to be doing and

7:48

blah , blah , blah . Anyway

7:50

, at this banquet , the

7:53

office I worked at received eight

7:57

awards . At the banquet

7:59

. Let

8:01

me see Out

8:03

of those eight , four

8:06

and I couldn't begin it wrong

8:08

, I'm kind of glancing at it right now Four

8:12

of them were for meritorious

8:14

service , which means these guys

8:16

just go above and beyond and they're hardworking

8:19

and you know they

8:21

basically set kind of

8:23

the standard for what you would want a

8:25

deputy to be . So

8:28

four of our guys received that one of our

8:30

reserves actually received deputy of

8:32

the year for our reserve deputy

8:34

of the year . And then

8:36

three of us received

8:38

life-saving awards and

8:42

I'll go ahead and tell you about it because it's a story

8:44

I can talk about . But

8:46

out of those life saving awards

8:49

, I had

8:51

received one of them . I

8:54

don't think I've talked about it yet , but anyway , I got

8:56

a call for a person that was was

9:00

in a crisis . They were having some

9:02

mental health issues and I had to drive down

9:04

to an area of our

9:06

county that goes over a fairly

9:09

wide river

9:11

and this person was on the edge of the bridge

9:13

. They were sitting on the edge and

9:16

their feet were dangling off the edge and the only

9:18

thing between them

9:21

and the river was air . So

9:23

they were right there on the edge and I

9:26

stopped far enough away to where I wouldn't startle

9:28

them , wouldn't make them jump or

9:30

, you know , make them do anything irrational

9:33

, and just started speaking

9:35

to this person and

9:37

they kind of would speak

9:39

with me back and forth and I got to where I was building

9:42

more rapport with them and

9:44

I would inch closer

9:47

the more I talked to them and

9:50

eventually I was able to get close enough where I was

9:52

in arms for each of this person and I'm

9:54

talking to her and she's telling

9:57

me how you know terrible

9:59

her life is . I

10:01

ended up finding out later that this isn't the first

10:03

time this

10:06

person has been in a situation like this

10:08

and that they have actually attempted

10:10

before and

10:12

not in

10:14

this type of way but they've attempted to take

10:16

their own life . Anyway

10:19

, I'm talking to her , I

10:21

get up , close enough to her and I go to place

10:23

my hand like on her shoulder , because

10:26

I think I've about got her there . I can talk

10:29

her into getting up . Well

10:31

, about the time my hand hits her shoulder

10:34

, she forces

10:37

herself up like , thrusts her

10:39

hips up and

10:42

slides forward onto the bridge

10:44

. And then I reach down

10:46

and I'm able to grab a hold of her arm and up

10:48

kind of underneath her armpit and hold her and

10:50

then lift her back up on

10:52

top of the bridge . And

10:54

it's one of those things while

10:56

I'm holding her and trying to pick her up , she's

10:59

looking at me , just begging me just to

11:01

let her go . You

11:03

know , I get her up , I

11:05

immediately take her and put her into my vehicle

11:08

and put her in there , and

11:10

she won't talk to me for

11:12

a little bit . We finally get about halfway

11:14

to where I'm taking her to get some mental

11:17

health help and

11:19

she breaks down and just starts bawling

11:21

and asking me you know if I think I'm

11:23

or you know , ask

11:25

me why I couldn't just let her go . And then

11:27

she was , uh , oh , at the end of

11:31

the trip she

11:33

finally got to where she was , thanking me for

11:36

what I'd done , and I asked if I thought she was a

11:38

bad person . And I'm like you know , there's I

11:41

don't think there's bad people

11:43

. I mean , it's people just need

11:45

help or they make bad decisions . Anyway

11:49

, uh , that's what I'd got

11:51

, or received that , uh , life

11:53

saving award about . That

11:56

was a story that it was about . Sorry , I'm still kind of

11:58

stuffed up , jared , you bastard . Anyway

12:03

, uh , so the

12:05

conference was great . I

12:08

mean it . There was a

12:10

lot of good things that came from it and the only bad things that

12:12

I'd gotten a COVID . And then

12:15

, you know , my wife had to deal

12:17

with me being sickly , and

12:20

I do appreciate that because she somewhat

12:23

kind of took care of me . She , I

12:27

guess has good bedside manner whenever she's at work , but

12:30

whenever it's here at the house , uh , it's

12:32

. It's not really that great . I think I got told more than

12:34

once just to shut up and take the medicine she

12:37

was handing me , which

12:42

I guess is different because , uh , I give

12:44

her so much crap all the time . She

12:46

uh conditioned out to um , another

12:51

thing that we talked about while we were up there at

12:53

oh no , let me go back . The

12:56

agency I

12:58

worked for posted this about all

13:00

the awards that everybody had received , and

13:04

this is where it comes

13:06

into play , where I say that you know people , there

13:09

are some people that are just assholes , and

13:12

I think it might've got removed . I

13:16

say I'm trying to find it real quick . I

13:21

guess it did get removed . No

13:24

old comments . Oh

13:29

, somebody says so . Now that the ceremony is over

13:32

and you're all feeling good about yourselves , do

13:34

you think you guys could actually get to work arresting

13:37

someone ? And

13:41

it ? I don't know . It blows

13:44

my mind that these people think that

13:47

we don't do nothing , and

13:49

this is the person that is so

13:51

damn ignorant to what goes on in the world

13:53

that if they actually knew

13:55

, they would be apologizing

13:57

and they would probably keep their mouth shut

13:59

from now on , because they know that . You

14:02

know what they had said was just idiotic

14:04

. While

14:06

we were up there at this conference , there

14:09

was multiple times where either

14:11

myself or one of the other investigators

14:14

were on the phone

14:16

with somebody whether it be a

14:18

victim trying to set up interviews

14:21

with stuff , trying to talk with

14:23

like I don't know who it may be

14:25

OSBI , anybody

14:28

and they were still

14:30

working while all this stuff was going

14:32

on . That is

14:34

the kind of officers

14:36

that you have working . They

14:38

were given this time off . A small

14:41

number of these guys were given time off

14:43

to go up there to this ceremony to receive

14:45

these awards for doing a fantastic job

14:47

, and

14:50

they still did not stop working . They

14:53

were doing it even when all this stuff was going

14:55

on . And

14:57

I mean there's a couple

14:59

of . You know there's a big I

15:02

say a big case , but there's an important case

15:04

that's going on where two

15:06

or three investigators were out constantly

15:09

either collecting

15:11

locating evidence , getting

15:14

search warrants , looking

15:18

for people . I mean they didn't really get

15:20

to enjoy themselves because I know that they've

15:22

got a duty and they were fulfilling

15:24

. Fulfilling that duty . They they're

15:28

the kind of people that you know they could

15:30

have just kind of , oh well , they can wait until

15:32

next week , but they didn't

15:34

do it . And

15:37

you know everybody keeps saying that why don't you

15:39

do this , why aren't they doing that ? And

15:42

they're putting up these opinions

15:44

and saying that , oh well , y'all are just dumb

15:46

because you haven't done this yet and done that

15:48

. This is where the ignorance

15:51

, poor poor's in , because the things

15:53

that's being mentioned , they've

15:55

either already happened , they're already

15:57

in the works , or it's something that's fixing

15:59

to happen . This

16:02

isn't new to any of them . Okay

16:04

, thank you . You know , give them a

16:06

break . I mean , they do this

16:08

stuff for a living and they're good at it . So

16:14

you know , that's the kind of ignorance

16:16

that you have to deal with . You have to actually deal

16:18

with the people that need

16:21

help and you know , maybe

16:24

halfway appreciate what you do or fully

16:26

do . But then you've got the others that are just like

16:28

. They

16:31

won't ask questions and they're so damn ignorant

16:33

as to what's going on that they just

16:35

make themselves look like a fool and

16:39

instead of remaining silent and just

16:42

appearing that they're , you know they're opening their

16:44

mouth or getting on their keyboards and

16:46

removing all doubt . So

16:49

, anyway , that's what had happened during the conference

16:51

. The

16:54

other thing that happened outside of that we had talked

16:57

about . There was a deputy that had

16:59

been injured . He got shot in a pursuit

17:01

. I

17:03

listened to the episode again . I guess we

17:05

never really mentioned his

17:08

name , but his name is Deputy

17:10

Sean Steadman and

17:13

he actually works oh

17:17

doing sorry

17:21

, I'm trying to get everything cleared up but

17:24

he actually works a violent

17:26

crime task force and it's

17:28

a drug and violent crime task force . So

17:32

when Deputy Steadman

17:34

we say the scumbag piece

17:36

of shit shot him , that's

17:39

what Deputy Steadman was going after , was trying

17:41

to get scumbag piece of shit . Let's

17:46

see , in case you guys haven't

17:48

noticed , they decided to

17:50

go

17:52

back to the scene of

17:54

the crime and start

17:56

searching again and looking over

17:58

and they actually found

18:01

a scumbag piece of shit

18:03

laying out there . I don't

18:05

know if he was in a wooded area or

18:07

a sea . Oh , he was found

18:10

in a thicket about 450 feet

18:12

from the shooting scene . One

18:16

of the news has announced it . It hadn't been

18:18

released yet , but

18:21

the rumor going around is that the

18:24

scumbag actually died

18:26

from I'm thinking , or what

18:28

I'm from what I'm hearing was a self inflicted

18:31

gunshot wound . So

18:33

he probably realized

18:35

what he had done was the

18:38

dumbest damn thing that he could ever do

18:40

and then knew

18:43

that

18:45

basically the whole

18:47

law enforcement world was going to be looking for

18:49

him . So he , you

18:51

know , took his own life instead of having

18:54

to serve the consequences of his actions

18:56

. But I

18:58

just wanted to pass that along . Steve

19:02

Steadman is actually

19:04

been released out

19:06

of ICU and

19:09

he's back at home , so

19:11

he's , you know , doing his best

19:13

to recover . I've

19:15

been told that there is

19:18

a a

19:20

go fund me for

19:24

the individual that

19:26

worked for the transport company that

19:28

was shot . His

19:33

name was oh man , I can't pronounce

19:35

this Juan Frierson , and

19:39

he was on I 35 during

19:42

where the widening project was when he

19:44

was shot . He

19:46

worked for Pioneer Transport . Pioneer

19:49

Transport released a statement saying that they're

19:52

happy to learn that the authorities discovered Cameron

19:54

Jenkins let's

19:57

see , oh

20:00

, nevermind his name scumbag piece of

20:02

shit Involved

20:04

in causing the death of our employee , juan Frierson

20:06

. We thank the community

20:08

for supporting Juan's family and law enforcement

20:10

for their diligence search . We express deep sadness

20:13

for the loss of one . The

20:15

family of Frierson is also provided a

20:17

go fund me link and I'm actually going to put that

20:20

in the the

20:23

show notes down here where you guys can go

20:25

down there and if you want to make a donation to this

20:27

guy , his family

20:30

and help them with anything

20:32

that might be going on , since

20:34

I'm sure they've got funeral expenses and

20:36

they've lost an income in their family . So

20:39

they're going to need some support

20:41

for a little while , especially with the shock

20:44

that they're in . But

20:46

anyway , enough about

20:49

scumbag

20:51

piece of shit . Okay

20:57

, I was trying to find another

21:00

story I was going to talk to you guys about

21:02

. That happened not too long ago , but

21:07

I'm not having the

21:11

best of luck . Anyway

21:13

, I'll tell you guys what's going

21:16

to be happen . I'm

21:21

still trying to find it . I'm

21:24

going to tell you guys in the next couple of weeks what's

21:26

going to be going on . Since

21:29

everybody had

21:31

gotten sick and then the

21:33

conference and all that stuff , I

21:35

had moved all the equipment out so

21:37

I could transport it up to the conference

21:40

. And you

21:42

know it was all

21:44

. I mean this stuff , when you take

21:46

it all down , takes forever . Putting it back up . I

21:49

say forever is just kind of a pain in the butt

21:51

. So I haven't gotten everything put back into

21:53

our little studio area

21:55

yet . So

21:58

this week I'm probably going to record a few episodes

22:00

from the house . Jared

22:03

and Rich may or may not be here , I

22:05

don't know if they feel like coming to my house . I'm

22:07

COVID , free guys , I swear you can come this

22:09

way . But anyway

22:13

, that's just going to be the plan for the next week or so

22:15

, so the episodes might get a little

22:17

shorter . I noticed the last few episodes

22:20

that were longer are

22:22

our numbers actually were

22:24

going up . There's more listeners

22:26

that have been tuning in to longer

22:28

episodes . That's

22:31

going to be oh

22:34

, we're going to try and hit that where we get to the

22:37

longer episodes and then

22:39

also , since they're more serious

22:41

in nature , I'm starting to think that maybe people

22:43

like the funny stuff thrown

22:45

in every now and then plus the more serious

22:47

stuff . So what

22:49

we're thinking about doing is doing some more serious

22:51

things where we got one , two , maybe

22:54

three part episodes and do

22:56

special episodes that'll come out on the weekends . But

23:00

I got to get everybody on board

23:02

. I think we're going to have Jared coming on more often

23:05

, as long as he

23:07

is okay with it and can get here , and

23:10

then also

23:12

we're going to have , oh

23:17

, a few more guests getting involved , because

23:19

there's been some guys that are hearing

23:21

the word about the podcast

23:23

more and that's , I guess , starting

23:25

to take off a little bit better . But

23:28

anyway , you guys , thanks for

23:30

listening to me today . I know it's kind

23:33

of different . Just me by myself . But just

23:35

hanging there with me for a little while longer and we'll

23:37

get all this stuff straightened out and we'll get back on

23:39

track to what we've been , what we've

23:41

been doing .
