In this episode we interviewed Gwilym Davies, 2009 World Barista Champion, Manager of Kavovekurzy Coffee Training School in Prague and co-founder of Prufrock Coffee in London.

Gwilym shared the most common, but simple mistakes that can be easily avoided by baristas and staff applying for a job and submitting CVs - which he is not very fond of. While he has some very particular views on how the perfect trial shift for would be, he gave some insights on how to hire better by finding a balance between the company’s and the candidate’s values and interests and the essential technical skills that every aspiring barista should have. Finally, he discussed the importance and benefits of relationships with staff members in their professional development and what it takes for him to mentor a career in coffee.
