Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are on everyone's mind right now, and the hype is real, but to me, the exciting part of bitcoin is not the currency itself, but the technology that drives it: blockchain.
What makes Bitcoin so special? Why was it the first to do what it does, why didn't this exist before? It's because Bitcoin introduced a technology called blockchain to the world. Although blockchain doesn't have nearly the hype of cryptocurrencies in general, it has the potential to seriously change the world and how we do business.
The philosophy behind blockchain is "decentralization", and blockchain has the potential to be the great equalizer between "us", the people, and large corporations. I believe it could lead us to a world where large corporations have much less power than they do now, and in an era where this seems to be one of our biggest problems, it could be a solution that we desperately need.
