When Dwayne Carl became extremely ill in 2001 he was afraid to go to the doctor. He was just garnering key roles both on stage and in independent films in Atlanta, GA , but he was about to play his biggest role ever: his personal battle with HIV/AIDS.
Once diagnosed, Dwayne faced not only the physical and emotional pain, but also the stigma of HIV/AIDs. He decided to chronicle his experiences to encourage  HIV and AIDs victims to seek treatment and to reveal the ill treatment suffered by survivors.
