Symoan was handicapped, in a wheelchair and unable to walk. Originally she was diagnosed with Crohn’s only to realize some time later that Crohn’s was a misdiagnosis. Because she was in a wheel chair and hospitalized most of her childhood, Symoan struggled with self-esteem issues, a non existent social life and also guilt because she felt that she robbed her siblings of their parents attention because she was sickly.

She is truly a walking miracle and continuing her story with her wife Hilary by her side.
