When you exit something, you shut

0:02

the door. You don't

0:05

stand in the doorway. You leave it

0:07

behind. And too many people, there's things

0:09

that God did in your life in

0:11

2023 that were amazing and wonderful, but

0:13

God wants to do a new thing,

0:15

and He's asking you to let go

0:17

of the old thing. Welcome

0:27

to Conversations. I'm John joined by

0:29

my lovely wife, Lisa, and I

0:31

hope everybody had a great Christmas

0:34

Day yesterday. I hope it was

0:36

especially good in regard to family.

0:38

That's the most important, I think,

0:40

thing that we should experience on

0:42

Christmas beside the most, the most

0:44

important thing, celebrating the birth of

0:46

our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

0:49

All right, so I am so excited about

0:51

what we're going to talk about. I think

0:54

talk about an end of the year subject.

0:56

This is it. It is perfect.

0:58

It is perfect. And before we

1:00

get into it, we got to

1:02

first remind everybody, please rate, review,

1:04

and most importantly, subscribe to the

1:06

show. And if you review, you

1:08

know what, you might get it

1:11

read on air on Earth, on Earth,

1:13

Earth and on air both. And

1:15

today we're going to read, I love

1:18

this name, Jonesy Mommy. Okay, ready? This

1:20

is what Jonesy Mommy says. I am

1:22

so thankful I found this podcast. I

1:24

feel like I have found my spiritual

1:27

mentors. That's

1:29

so beautiful, who will share open,

1:31

honest, biblical, and current content. I

1:33

only wish I could be there

1:35

in person. We do too. Thank

1:38

you so much for taking the time to

1:40

minister to us. God bless. Hey, if

1:42

we get a building we might be able to

1:44

do some in-person ones. That would be so much

1:47

fun. Which, yes. That would be amazing. So what

1:49

are we talking about today? Oh, today

1:51

we are talking about exits and entrances.

1:53

So we're exiting 2023 and we're entering

1:56

2024. It's true. There's

12:00

not roads and wilderness. So

12:03

God is saying, I'm going to actually turn

12:05

what was formerly a place that you could

12:07

not navigate in your life. I'm going to

12:09

turn it into some pathways for you. There's

12:11

something else I really want to point out, babe. You know, he

12:13

says, don't remember the form of things. Don't consider the things of

12:16

old. Okay, now, if

12:18

you're looking back because

12:20

he makes the statement, behold, I will do a new thing.

12:22

Now, it's just, shall spring forth, shall you not know it?

12:26

If your eyes are on the back

12:28

past, you're not going to be

12:30

able to behold and recognize what he's doing

12:33

new. And I think a lot

12:35

of people don't perceive what

12:37

God is about to do in their life

12:40

because they're so busy hanging on and looking

12:42

at the past. And so he said, it's

12:44

going to, you may even look in it. First,

12:47

it looks like a wilderness. It looks like a desert. But he

12:49

says, I'm going to make a river there. I'm going to make,

12:51

I'm going to make, I'm going

12:53

to make roads there and rivers there. And that speaks of

12:55

pathways. That speaks of prosperity,

12:57

prosperity in the sense of you're going

12:59

to benefit people's lives. Provision

13:01

in a place that looked barren. Yes.

13:05

It looked barren. You're sitting there going, how in the world is

13:07

this going to happen? But

13:09

yet God says, I'm going

13:11

to make roads in that desert. And

13:14

so it is so important that we not

13:16

just look at what did God do through

13:18

my life? That's what Paul meant when he

13:20

said, I forget those things which are behind.

13:23

And I

13:26

look forward and I press forward toward

13:28

the mark of the high calling of

13:30

God. But

13:32

I want people to have expectations because if

13:34

you live in the past, you know, oh,

13:37

I remember when this was going on. I

13:39

remember when that was like, if you live in the

13:42

past, you will not have an expectation or a hope

13:44

in the future. If you live even like

13:46

thinking about the good things in the past, you'll live in the

13:48

past. You will not lean into the future. And

13:51

then it talks about exit with excellence.

13:54

Okay. Luke 16, 12 says, and if

13:56

you are not faithful with other people's

13:58

things, why should you be... trusted with

14:01

things of your own. So

14:03

I think what he's saying here is like

14:05

you, you know, like there's so many of

14:07

us that, you know, when we're young, we're

14:09

like, okay, we want our thing. But

14:12

God was like, let's see what you

14:14

do with their thing. Let's see if

14:17

you're a faithful steward with somebody else's

14:19

time, with somebody else's

14:21

organization, because how we serve somebody

14:23

else is actually how God's going

14:25

to set us up to go

14:28

into our next season. And that's how

14:30

we're going to serve when we're entrusted with something that

14:32

is our own. And I

14:34

think almost there's

14:36

very few exceptions. There are very few

14:38

exceptions, but God will always test every

14:41

single person, whether you're in the marketplace,

14:44

ministry, as far as vocational ministry,

14:46

healthcare, whatever, he'll always, there'll

14:48

be a season where you'll be, you'll

14:50

be serving with some, is somebody else's

14:52

vision, somebody else's business, somebody else's property.

14:55

How you handle that is the way

14:57

you're going to handle what you come

15:00

into when you get your own, if you're

15:02

not faithful with theirs, you're not going

15:04

to be faithful with your own. If you are

15:06

faithful with theirs, you are going to be

15:08

faithful with that, which is your own, and

15:10

a lot of times people don't get that

15:12

real sweet touch of God when they enter

15:14

into that, which is their own, because they

15:16

didn't handle what was somebody else's with excellence.

15:18

They didn't do it with all their heart.

15:21

And so, you know, the way you

15:23

exit a season is the way you're going to enter

15:25

into the next season. You know, let's just look at

15:27

this. Let let's just make it really, really clear.

15:30

If somebody comes out of a marriage and

15:33

they didn't handle that well, they're bitter,

15:35

they're mad, they're angry, they want to

15:37

get revenge, and then they

15:39

find somebody and they enter into another

15:42

marriage, they're going to carry everything into

15:44

that you've got, you've got

15:46

to go out with joy. The Bible says, and

15:48

be led forth with peace. You say, but wait

15:50

a minute, where I exited it, it was chaotic,

15:52

but did you have peace in your heart? Did

15:55

God release you or did you release

15:57

yourself? You know, I think there's a lot

15:59

of times. the

18:00

story because she was trapped in the

18:02

past and she repeated it, repeated it,

18:04

and they say that when you repeat

18:06

a story, you don't actually remember how

18:08

it happened. You remember how

18:10

it felt when it happened, and

18:12

you only remember how it was

18:14

repeated the last time, not it

18:16

was accuracy. You know, Lisa, there's

18:18

a friend of mine. He's a pastor and

18:21

he is a pastor of a great church

18:23

and he's a friend of ours, I should

18:25

say. You know,

18:27

after 12 years of his wife having

18:29

affairs, you know, he finally realized

18:31

God was releasing him and,

18:33

you know, he was single and he said,

18:35

John, I'm going to counseling because I realized

18:38

I was in a very unhealthy marriage and

18:40

I knew before I could enter into a new marriage,

18:43

I had to get healthy. And

18:45

actually he had pastor friends of

18:47

his that introduced him, introduced him

18:50

to a wonderful woman. She

18:52

had never been married. He was in her early thirties and

18:55

they started dating and he

18:57

was wise enough to recognize I

19:00

can't embrace this new relationship because I've

19:03

got things to address with my old

19:05

one. And he actually broke

19:07

off the relationship. He liked her a lot

19:09

too. And he said, you are, you are

19:11

too wonderful. You are too good of

19:13

a person and I'm a mess and I

19:16

need to, I need to, I need to heal. I

19:18

need to heal. So I'm breaking the relationship. Please I

19:20

release you. You know what she did? She

19:23

knew she was called to make me his wife. She

19:26

prayed for him for four

19:28

months, four months. She went through the entire Bible

19:30

and prayed a prayer for him out of every

19:33

chapter. He then

19:35

four months later came back and said, I feel

19:38

like I'm at the place where I can try this.

19:40

If you're open to it, I know I might've broken your

19:43

heart by what I did four months ago. She said, I'm

19:45

ready and now they're married

19:47

today and God just set that thing up

19:49

beautifully. And so, you

19:51

know, he knew when the time was

19:53

to embrace, he had to

19:56

let go, let go of unhealthy

19:58

patterns and I have. watch

20:00

people come out of marriages like that

20:02

and go right into another one and

20:04

bring all the unhealthy aspects into it

20:07

without getting healed. So knowing the time

20:09

to exit, knowing the time to enter

20:11

is extremely important. And Jesus said we

20:14

could know it if we listened to

20:16

the spirit of the living God. He's

20:19

the one that leads us. Yeah. So

20:21

some of you out there, you may be feeling

20:23

like 2023 was a horrible year and you're like,

20:27

I'm so glad to exit it. I

20:29

hope you hear what John is saying.

20:31

There are certain things that may have

20:33

been done to you, may have happened,

20:35

disappointment, discouragement, wounding, rejection, whatever it is.

20:38

We want to challenge you to lay

20:40

those things down and just

20:43

let that door close. I always love that the

20:45

new year can feel like a reset. It

20:47

can just be like the reset of God's

20:49

mercy, of God's hope and

20:52

set your mind on, okay, you know

20:54

what? Instead of thinking this

20:56

was done to me, I'm going to think

20:58

what do I need to do? Where did

21:00

I contribute to that? And there is a

21:02

powerful, powerful book by Dr. Henry Cloud. It

21:05

is called Necessary Endings. And

21:07

we'd recommend that highly. John,

21:09

you want to pray for them and close

21:11

them down? Yeah. I'm so glad you asked me because

21:13

I was feeling that. I just want to

21:16

pray that you would close the previous season

21:18

correctly, that you would not leave prematurely. So

21:20

can we all pray as we enter into

21:22

this new year? Of Heavenly Father, we just

21:24

bring this before you. And I know there

21:26

are precious men and women that are listening

21:28

right now. And Lord, there are

21:30

aspects of what we said that literally leapt in

21:32

their spirit, holy Spirit of God. These

21:35

people are so tender and dear to you. You

21:37

love them so deeply and you want to see

21:39

them successful in this next season, but

21:41

you also want to see them exit the previous season

21:44

at the right time and in the right way. And

21:46

so we are asking today, Lord God, that you

21:48

would give them eyes to see, ears to hear,

21:51

and a heart to perceive and understand. When

21:53

the right time is to exit the season

21:55

they're in, how to do it, Lord,

21:58

with excellence and love. Lord

22:00

how to enter into that next

22:02

season. I pray that no one

22:04

listening would hold on to unhealthy

22:06

old ways or even old ways

22:08

that have run their course, but

22:11

that they would learn to let

22:13

go in anticipation in faith, Lord

22:15

God, knowing that you are bringing

22:17

them into a new season which

22:19

is going to produce more fruit

22:21

for the kingdom of God. And

22:23

we thank you for this and

22:25

we commit every person into your

22:28

care in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

22:31

Amen. You're closing us out. Oh,

22:34

I am. Listen, thanks for
