In honor of these summer days which are getting ever hotter, at least where I am, I decided to investigate that blazing disk in the sky that we love when the temperature outside is just right, and hate when it isn’t: the sun. How exactly does the sun work, and just how big and hot is it What have we learned about the sun since the days of sacrificing people to it as a god, and what are we still trying to figure out? How does the sun help us, and how does it hurt us?  And even worse, how can and does it kill us? I tackle these questions, talk a bit about the sun in horror movies, and tell you a delightful little bedtime story about a boy who learns a brutal lesson about how the Incans worshipped the sun. Why get all scientific and talk about something as everyday and painfully normal as the sun?
