I used to love this podcast, but over the last few months the hosts are no longer capable of leaving their political views out of the story lines. Your audience gets enough political rhetoric on every other media platform! I just heard the hosts justify the mother of two missing girls lying to the police because "police are brutal." NO! If you want to find your kids you don't lie to the police! True crime, is supposed to be about TRUTH, not filled with references of your opinions and beliefs; if your audience wanted that they would just watch the nightly news!
I used to really like this podcast. Unfortunately, they can’t keep their political views out of it which is really unprofessional. The last straw was today’s podcast and the constant police bashing they do on their podcast. I refuse to listen anymore. What about highlighting the hundreds and thousands of cases where there is great police work? Too bad they are caught up in the cancel culture. I wonder how they would feel if they had husbands or brothers or fathers who served in the police force. DONE. Deleting crime junkie. I’m going to stick to TCAT
I use to like them however it has become lazy just stating evidence of unsolved cases and not theorising. Plus they are plagiarists.
Was a huge CJ fan until it became clear that their episodes rip off indie podcasts and steal content from other creators, with no remorse. Disappointing to have such a promising start, only to devolve into plagiarism and bad faith (all while raking in tons of cash).
I have been trying to like this podcast for weeks, but it seems to scripted. Although each podcast is a different story, they all sound the same. One tells the story while the other asked questions and acts surprised on Q! It does not seem like a real conversation, just a badly scripted crime story.
If you're looking for true crime podcasts that are detailed but to the point (unlike Serial), this is the one for you.
Plagiarized content, title, and merchandise. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/22/business/media/crime-junkie-podcast-plagiarism.html Furthermore, the podcast refuses to address it beyond an obviously lawyer-manufactured statement.
I liked it, until I learned they are accused of and appear guilty of plagiarism
There's a lot I appreciate about this podcast. The hosts speak very clearly and in good quality, personal chatter is to a minimum, it's very much to-the-point and matter-of-fact. It's more fast paced so you don't lose focus halfway through. Ads are brief and easy to skip. Consistent with new episodes. It's a favorite for sure.
Just could not get into it, unfortunately, as people who like it seem to really love it.
I did start off absolutely loving Crime Junkies, however recently I have been turned off it. I find myself rolling my eyes every time they say something like "if I was in that position.." or "you'd think they would of done something like this..." - as if they know what their exact reaction would be too stumbling across a decapitated human being!! Also, Britt pretending like this isn't heavily scripted and acting shocked at every single detail really is annoying. There are just way too many better (not plagiarized) shows that don't shove their beliefs down your throat! Very disappointing, won't be coming back.
This is my favorite True Crime podcast. It does quite a few things right, in my opinion. 1. It keeps personal conversations to a minimum.2. It tells the stories from the victim's perspective.3. It keeps a spooky tone for those who love true crime for the spoops.4. For unsolved crimes, it tells viewers what to look out for in order to help it get solved. AND they like to shine light on cases that may have been overlooked, which means a lot to the survivors of these crimes who are still trying to get justice. This is an anthology style true crime podcast (a new case every episode). However, I've heard complaints from people who prefer deep dive true crime podcasts (one case per season), but if that's what you want then Red Ball is more for you.
I love this podcast so much! Listening to Ashley and Britt actually inspired me to start my own True Crime Podcast.
One of my all-time favs. What a couple of badass babes😀
Everything is amazing about this podcast. No meaningless chatter, hosts have great chemistry, and the pace is perfect. This is what got me into podcasts over all.
I use to love this podcast!! I would eagerly wait each week for the new episodes to come out, however, lately I haven’t even bothered to listen. I love Ashley, the work she’s done and the podcast! However, the last few months - I feel that the writing has changed, I’m sure Ashley isn’t writing her own episodes anymore. I completely understand, she’s very busy and has a lot of projects underway. But I miss her style of writing and story telling. I tuned in every week, because she was passionate when talking, her style of writing her episodes and her talking, was unmatched to anyone else in the true crime podcast scene. She has a way with story telling, a way with the words she chose, implanting the importance of the victim and gripping you in for every next word she would say! Her story telling was clear, I was able to paint a picture of the story, relate to the victim and follow along. Sadly as of late, the episodes are just being read from a script that she hasn’t wrote, there’s no passion. When researching and writing a story, a lot of thought, emotions and passion goes into every word you write, it is then projected when you talk about it. This is not the case anymore. I understand she has a lot of projects, businesses and other things she is doing. I just miss the old style of Crime Junkie. I mean No hate for Ashley or Brit. Just my honest review, as someone who’s listened to every episode more than once and pretty much listens to majority of true crime podcasts. I am only leaving this review in hopes Ashley can see it and possibly put some passion back into an incredible podcast <3
Awesome storytelling. Host engagement is fantastic. Seems like they do a lot of community services also which is awesome.
Mark Flores here from We Don't Know Better! I love this podcast, it's all information, no side tracks and Ashley has a voice I could listen to for hours on end...I'm not weird, you're weird!
