Welcome to the first episode of Crop Talk!!! Today I speak with Charles McCutchen, CEO of a Non-Profit and entrepreneur, and Shannon Wells of Our Sensory Farm in Chesapeake.
With Charles, we speak about his non-profit organization, G.E.M.S. Miracle for Help. The G.E.M.S program focuses on helping Veterans in the community to rebuild their civilian circumstance. They offer professional council, a temporary place to stay, and opportunities to ease a transition into independence.
Shannon is also influential within the community! With her son being diagnosed with Autism, she knew that things would need to be adjusted for his benefit. "We needed to change our lifestyle, not change him." Two years ago, she decided to create a space for him to disconnect from the technologies of the world and to reconnect with nature. 3 acres of land was purchased, and as of July, she and her team have been working to develop the space into a magical sensory farm!!! Our Sensory Farm's official opening to the public will be between January 21st and January 24th 2021.
Both of our guests today recognized a need within the community, and worked changes to resolve them. Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to their stories! Please, follow them online anywhere at:
