Today we bring you part 1 of a 2-part series on editing and Final Cut Pro X. I bring back fellow podcaster and veteran editor Chris Fenwick as we discuss various editing and work philosophies. Regardless of what NLE you use, you'll find this first episode insightful as we talk about how to balance your style with the client's brand; working with clients; balancing perfection with "getting the job done" as the client needs it; and more. Towards the end we start our discussion of Final Cut Pro X. Our hope is that this will be the definitive discussion that once and for all ends the crazy hype and myths about whether FCPX is a "professional" NLE, and about what the program can and cannot do. There is a lot of misinformation out there we plan to dispel.  In part 2 we'll go into more detailed discussion about how we use FCPX, those features which really make it stand out, and dabble in what we find frustrating about it.

Tips, Tricks and Education for Filmmakers

Today Mike Duval from LensProToGo (lensprotogo.com/x180) tells us about their exciting new education resource for filmmakers, LensProToGo Labs.

Kelly Simants of Sage Wedding Pros and one of the developers of  The People Plan (thepeopleplan.biz), talks about alternative compensation methods for employees and contractors.

And we continue our timelapse cinematography series with Patryk Kizny of DitoGear (ditogear.com). This week Patryk talks about changing exposures for long time lapses. Whether or not you're a timelapse filmmaker, you will find this "mini-seminar" a treasure trove of cinematic education.  Also be sure to check out their spotlight section for articles and inspiration on filmmaking techniques.
