Have you ever wondered why some products are so difficult to use? Why is it so hard to find certain information on a website? My default response is generally: "Bad Design." But, what do we actually mean when we say it's "bad?" How do we make it "good?" Today's episode is my conversation with Victor Yocco, a researcher and psychologist who sheds light on the underlying psychological principles of behavior essential to creating and communicating value through Design. We discuss a variety of topics and Victor offers some great insight into how Designers can leverage these principles through their own personal Process.
At the end of the episode, we discuss Victor's recent work in addressing the culture of alcohol and substance abuse in the tech world. He was very open about his struggles with sobriety and the challenges he faces in an industry where alcohol is extremely prevalent. It certainly gave me a lot to think about.
