Curdled Milk

It’s dark. Only a slither of Moonlight leaks under the door. A silhouette in bed – a woman - curled up tight in a fetal position, her fists tightly wound around the edges of her blanket pulled to her face. We see her eyes – tired and shadowed from another restless night – deadpan stare at the wall. A noise from another room snaps her from her stupor. The music in her head swells - a Jaws-like soundtrack gaining in intensity nearing its crescendo. She fights the urge to stay in her room hoping the unwelcome intruder does not suspect that she is alone. Vulnerable. But she is alone. Hope already left - packed its bags long ago – taking the light and love with it. She follows the sliver of light to the door, her heart beating so fast she can feel it in her throat as we see her hand start to wrap around the door handle. She opens it slowly to ease the squeak in the hinge that has been there since the day she moved in. As she opens the door further, she sees nothing at first but can feel a presence. She’s not alone after all. She eases herself into the other room and comes face to face with the figure in the dark. He has no face but is all too familiar She knows him as FEAR. She doesn’t want to hear him. She doesn’t want him in her head or her heart, not again, so she goes into the other room. One that in the daylight still has the smell of good memories and the wallpaper of smiles and laughter. But as she enters that room, all that is left is her other companion, doubt. Is this you? Are you her? So, you’re an Adult. We’re supposed to have it figured it out by now. We’re supposed to have the answers. Do you feel alone because you don’t? It’s hard to admit fear. It is scary to show vulnerability. And the uncertainty…it is overwhelming. Admitting it takes courage. Saying it out loud demonstrates strength. Telling someone you trust means you have faith. Are we always dark and twisty? No, our podcast reflects your life: sometimes serious, sometimes deep, sometimes funny, sometimes just about hair and décor, but always wanting to be authentic and affected. Robin Hesselgesser, the host, is an Entrepreneur. She is an Artist who started her business on a Saturday night from odds and ends that were sitting in a garage. She now paints custom, original and unique artwork for individuals and businesses, traveling all over the country. She has also been leading and affecting women, men, groups and businesses through her individual and business coaching, online platforms, speaking engagements, books, TV show, and now her podcast. She is passionate about helping people create positive change in their life. How does she do that? Through connecting, creating change and consistency. You will hear the stories of others who will inspire you. They will let you know that whatever you are feeling is not unique just to you. There are effective ways to acknowledge pain, evolve from the past, from failure or insecurities, and carve out a path to different, better results. Often, we wait to change until circumstances force us to and then it’s painful, dark, scary and without our permission. Change can occur from a place of choice instead of reacting to negative circumstances you didn’t see coming. Her advice is unique, bold, actionable and comforting. Whatever got her listeners to where they are is without judgment. What has gone down is done. What you do next is the rest. You may be grown, but you’re not alone.
