On this episode of Current Climate, I am joined by Jessica Taylor, Executive Director of the Outer Banks Center for Dolphin Research based in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. In addition to the OBCDR, Jessica is also a middle school science teacher. We discuss everything from the current state of dolphin population research to public school science standards. Some of the information and stories Jessica shares, I will not forget anytime soon.

You can read the research paper that she co-authored titled, "Common Bottlenose Dolphin, Tursiops truncatus, SeasonalHabitat Use and Associations with Habitat Characteristics in Roanoke Sound, North Carolina." Additionally, be sure to learn more about her non-profit organization, the Outer Banks Center for Dolphin Research, and all the amazing work they do to promote the conservation of bottlenose dolphins in the Outer Banks.

If you want to see some of these magical creatures for yourself, look no further than the Nags Head Dolphin Watch, which is a unique eco-tour to search for wild Atlantic bottlenose dolphins and view the wildlife of the Outer Banks. Biologists, such as Jessica, run these dolphin tours as part of their research on these beloved aquatic animals, so you know this will be an interesting trip.

One of the other organizations mentioned in this episode is N.E.S.T. (Network for Endangered Sea Turtles), which is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of the habitats and migration routes of Sea Turtle and other marine animals on the Outer Banks of North Carolina from the Virginia border to Oregon Inlet.
