People are good at names. Machines are good at numbers.

And the domain name system is that interface where the much more technical layers of the internet start to meet humans.

The reason why we set up a new DNS Research Federation, which is a not for profit we've established last year, is to actually stimulate research and access to data and engagement in standards relating to unique identifier systems because not enough people understand them.

There isn't enough research going on. And if you don't understand it, you can end up making policy that goes very wrong.

In this episode, Oscar O’Connor and Nadja El Fertasi have an in-depth discussion with Emily Taylor, Founder of DNS Research Federation, about what DNS is, who controls it, the impact of not understanding it well enough, governance and standard, and diversity and inclusion in the industry.
