I.V.M. Wow,

0:12

beautiful Singapore. Everything is so organised. Perfect. But I

0:14

am missing a little chaos. I am missing my

0:16

auto-mixture drivers. I am missing that thrill feeling, you

0:18

know, sitting on a motorbike and rushing around. It's

0:21

the one thing that I am missing. Could I

0:23

find that here? I am not hinting, I am

0:25

not sure. What I really want also is peace

0:27

and tranquility. Can I get all

0:29

these factors, peace, tranquility and a little bit of

0:31

musty, mazaa. How can I get all that together?

0:33

Is there such a place? That's your hint. Let's

0:35

find out by following my finger. Ah,

0:43

so it's still, Cyrus says in Singapore. And let

0:46

me tell you, I met someone very magical. We're

0:48

going to talk about her life and career. But

0:51

I want to start with the fact that, I mean,

0:53

not people pronounce her name properly. Now, where's my camera?

0:55

I'll keep searching. I'll do this. Make sure

0:57

that I'm in the frame all the time. Because

0:59

I really struggle with certain names. And we

1:01

were discussing and I've been saying it offline

1:03

wrong every single time. So it's Sat, Sat,

1:06

Ya. Sat, Sat, Sya. It's Sat,

1:08

Sya. Sat, Sya. Sat, Sya. 15 minutes later.

1:10

Okay, let's now start formally at the beginning

1:12

of your life. And let's go back to

1:14

the fact that you're actually, you're

1:17

from India and you're settled here. So we'll come

1:19

to the Singapore connection. But first, you were working

1:21

and living in India. So I was

1:23

in India, I think, I moved only like a year

1:25

ago to Singapore. That's

1:27

great for our show actually. So you're

1:29

almost the mixed experience now. Yeah. I

1:32

moved here for love because I got married and

1:34

my husband works here. Oh, okay. I've

1:36

come to Singapore before because my brother lives here. So

1:38

I came as a tourist a couple of years ago.

1:41

Now I'm a resident. So yeah, I've seen like both

1:43

worlds. But again, like I worked in

1:45

India. I was a journalist for five years and then... So

1:48

let's just quickly go back to that. Then we'll come to

1:50

Singapore. So the base was Delhi or it was Bombay? I

1:53

was working in Delhi, but originally I'm from Bangalore.

1:55

Oh, wow. Excellent. So in

1:57

Delhi, journalists proper did one of those

2:00

degrees in journalism. Yeah, I studied

2:02

at ACT in Chennai. I

2:04

was a very serious journalist. I wanted to

2:06

become that reporter breaking investigative stories. Then I

2:08

actually joined journalism and started working and I

2:10

realised it's a whole different world. But it

2:12

was fun. Did you do field reporting for

2:14

what it was? I did a few feature

2:17

stories. So that was like on

2:19

your days off you could do it, you could volunteer to

2:21

do it. Do you remember any feature stories?

2:23

Yeah, I did one on Pokemon Go in India. I

2:26

really liked what I was doing. But then

2:28

the pandemic happened so I moved back home

2:30

after living in Delhi for five years

2:33

and struggling with me. You were there for 2020? Yes.

2:36

So you were there for 2015-20? Yes.

2:38

And then you go back home because of the pandemic? Yeah,

2:41

so I started working from home and it was around

2:43

that time that Instagram launched Reel and ticked

2:45

over the time. How the world changed.

2:47

What a beautiful moment. I cried when

2:49

Instagram said Reel for everyone. I'm like,

2:51

beautiful. No longer a full film. Seven

2:53

seconds of happiness here. So

2:55

when I first moved to Delhi, I found the Hindi very

2:58

difficult. And so I was

3:00

just making videos on how to remember different

3:02

words that sound similar, like the difference between

3:04

Patrice and Pachas. That's your problem. I thought Deets,

3:06

Drogi and those kinds of words would be, you know. Once

3:09

you go up and up, you have to learn that. So things

3:11

like that. And so Reel started

3:13

working and I think it was

3:15

two things that I had a niche topic and Reel

3:17

was new, right? So you were pushing it like crazy

3:19

on Instagram. So whoever sat and

3:21

then got a huge followership. And

3:24

I was like, oh, great. This is working.

3:26

This is doing well. And suddenly money started

3:28

coming in. So money comes in.

3:31

Yeah. Bro, this is why I

3:33

tell you should be on Deel's nose.

3:36

So making money, hello, we're pressing Pachas or

3:38

Pachas. We are expressing our power care. Somebody,

3:40

I mean, this is unfair. We

3:42

are having a whole hamlet on stage. So

3:45

yeah. And then got to

3:47

a point where I was like, OK, this is a

3:49

new field. It's growing well. Why don't I explore it?

3:51

So I quit my nine to five and the

3:54

main thing is these things really took off. Lots of people

3:56

are making Reel's. They don't all take off. Whatever

3:58

reason, you've got some connect with the audience. that took off.

4:00

So the progress started in India, then you moved

4:02

to Singapore and you grew even faster. But let's

4:05

reach Singapore now and you've come

4:07

here and have you become a celebrity here etc.

4:09

So tell us about the difference, trying to connect here

4:11

as it connects there. So when I first

4:13

moved, I was a bit apprehensive. I thought,

4:16

you know, all my bases in India, I

4:18

can't keep making videos on languages in Singapore,

4:21

right? So then I asked my audience, like,

4:23

what do you want to see? So this

4:25

shows like life in Singapore, cultural differences, etc.

4:27

So that's what I've been trying different food

4:30

all across Singapore, different experiences.

4:32

And I'm sure a lot of the places you

4:34

visited on this series, you know, I've made like

4:36

little little blogs on it to just show people what

4:39

it's like. Yes, 100%. We will be in these places.

4:42

Whatever happens. And

4:44

also like cultural differences within

4:46

among India. But now you're representing Desis, where

4:48

they were going more regional. So here now

4:51

the Desi community versus the non-Desi community. Correct.

4:53

If you compare this to what is like

4:55

the best thing about Singapore vis-a-vis India for

4:57

you. I think the first thing you notice when you

4:59

come to Singapore and you would agree as well is how green

5:01

it is. Surprisingly even more and more every time.

5:04

Yeah, because in all the pictures you see all these

5:06

high rises and great building. They took all our

5:08

trees. That makes sense. Oh, careful. You're

5:10

not going

5:14

to do this anymore. You're talking about regional

5:16

differences and things like that. So

5:19

even when you're driving from the airport to the city,

5:21

you'll see it's completely green. Only that.

5:23

Yeah, they take a lot of care to make

5:25

sure that there's a lot of green cover. So even on

5:27

the foot over bitches, if you've seen any of them, they

5:30

have plants all along it. Under

5:32

the metros, along the pillars, you

5:34

have huge trees. So wherever possible,

5:36

there is green cover. And

5:38

that's really nice to see. I also saw some things

5:40

which I've never seen in India, like you're on a

5:42

road for about 10 minutes and nobody jumps in front

5:44

of the car. You're not once I

5:47

felt I told Silvari my producer, why don't

5:49

you just do it because I'm missing India

5:51

a little bit. Just run across the road.

5:53

But it's amazing. People actually respect law and

5:56

follow restrictions correctly. Security and safety

5:58

is huge. Singapore

6:01

and especially as a woman like you can go

6:03

out at any time of the night you will

6:05

feel completely safe and I think

6:07

maybe this is a Delhi thing but

6:09

sure nobody looks at you like when

6:12

you're walking on the road nobody cares.

6:14

So you feel undervalued and ugly but

6:16

in Delhi you feel so wanted. Yeah

6:19

like here I mean you can you can

6:21

wear the best outfit and like walk on

6:23

and just nobody cares. We did an

6:25

experiment we kept my producer of Silvery out on

6:27

the road overnight when we came back in the

6:29

morning he was still there like nobody bothered him

6:32

at all I mean I felt so secure after

6:34

that. Imagine Gurgaon if I left him alone. Yeah

6:36

he just says glasses. Like a five minutes. Five

6:38

minutes yeah okay so we'll take a break and

6:40

go into some great activity because we're right here

6:43

at Sentosa and I don't know if you can

6:45

see in one of the cameras you may be

6:47

able to see people taking rounds on the go-kart.

6:49

So I'm going to try that myself. Oh

7:01

god. What

7:06

a performance. I

7:10

feel like Miraad Kohli guys. Yeah this is

7:13

what it's like wearing a helmet for hours, fighting

7:15

against great great talent on the other side. There

7:17

were nine of the best go-karters of Singapore. They

7:19

lined up against me national champions all of them.

7:21

Some on the international circuit and I held my

7:23

own. I was quick, I was fast, I was

7:25

I got stuck once but that's not the point.

7:28

I really showed a lot of heart in there and I

7:30

mean a lot of love and respect from everyone in Singapore.

7:32

Thank you guys. Thank you so much for everything. Thank you.

7:35

Okay we're back here with Anna and I think the research

7:37

team works too hard. I can't ignore their questions. Sometimes just

7:39

like the conversation to flow just makes more sense. Is there

7:41

a favorite thing for you in Singapore? If not a favorite

7:43

thing is there something you like doing again and again? I

7:46

really like the food here. The food

7:48

in Singapore is excellent because it's like a global place

7:50

like you get food from all over the world. My

7:52

favorite thing to do is go out and try new

7:54

food. So I like going to

7:57

hawker centers or I just I'm on

7:59

Instagram a lot so when people like share reels of places

8:01

to try food at, I like doing that. But apart

8:03

from that, I have a dog

8:05

so it's really fun to go to the east coast

8:07

path. There is a dog path there, there's a dog

8:09

run there which is an enclosed area where all the

8:11

dogs can run. But just generally that beach is nice,

8:14

you can cycle, you can walk, there are a lot

8:16

of people who jog, you're very fitness conscious here in

8:18

Singapore. So yeah, this question is going to blow you

8:20

away. On your channel you've done a

8:22

lot of content around food in Singapore. What do you

8:24

think is something that can only be found in Singapore?

8:26

You've sort of answered this. Yeah but I

8:29

can take you like for breakfast, have kaya too,

8:31

have you had it? There's

8:33

a girl called kaya who gives you toast. No, no,

8:35

no. What's kaya toast? So kaya is a

8:37

bread, it's made out of coconut, eggs

8:39

and pandan. It's like a jam basically

8:41

and so you have like white bread

8:43

that's toasted, you have a thin layer

8:45

of kaya and then you have a

8:47

slice of butter. Where's the egg? The egg

8:50

is inside the jam. So it's just like

8:52

a, you don't really taste, yeah it's a

8:54

sandwich. So you don't really taste the egg, egg

8:56

as such but the combination is really nice and

8:58

a lot of locals eat toasted egg with soy

9:00

sauce and they dip the bread in that. So

9:03

they like that combination of those things and you

9:05

have the coffee every day. Wow,

9:07

Sentosa Island has something for everyone.

9:09

I say with my voiceover, what's a place

9:11

that you would recommend to someone who visits Singapore for

9:14

the first time? Definitely,

9:16

I think everyone knows Universal Studios.

9:19

I mean what you need more than

9:21

one day, it's so big. Yeah, it's a

9:23

lot of fun. But other than

9:25

that something if you wanted to off-beats is go

9:27

to Falawan beach. It's a very different beach experience

9:29

compared to what we have in India because there's

9:31

an area that's cordoned off where you can swim so

9:33

it's like super safe. It's obviously

9:36

very clean and you can just go there

9:38

and relax. It's not how it's bustling

9:40

and how it's famous. You'd say

9:42

Indian beaches because you don't have like stalls

9:44

selling food. I don't

9:46

want that. I want less people. That's why I like

9:48

Singapore. You will love Falawan beach. There are

9:50

a lot of things to do on Sentosa. I've

9:52

not even done like one-fourth of the things here

9:54

because there's so many things to do. But

9:56

if you come to Singapore like Easily three,

9:59

four days. Even my friend and I

10:01

think we. Could do it is selling of the

10:03

most people better ceo know because it didn't. You

10:05

see bodies to the societies and it seemed as

10:07

a religious difference in central a sense and also

10:09

get up at experience. Yeah and one name of

10:12

enemies muslims are going to one knew you'd walk

10:14

a lot to be prepared if you want to

10:16

be fit in the basic of disguising. But

10:18

as many or to was slain in India

10:20

for short distances. A disease? A good point? Yeah,

10:23

You have to walk. So I bought

10:25

a lot fit off the cuff again

10:27

because I'm walking a lot more. The

10:29

public transport a lot more. Ah, and

10:31

if is edited. Islam

10:34

but of be aired his team

10:36

said especially don't mind. Walking a lot.

10:39

Could you get has the ago. Is there a

10:41

place in Singapore that in mind your

10:44

home? Little India the most obvious answer

10:46

that is an actual police in Singapore. Call

10:48

Little India says you have a lot of

10:50

an investor on it. Also seems a lot

10:52

like in there because. As I think

10:54

the only place I use your people

10:56

on king not as like traffic and

10:58

six assists. It's really nice. You know

11:00

when you miss. School with similar to

11:03

the For does very breezy couple with

11:05

a belittling a good bet ya ya

11:07

movement also home I'm done with your.

11:09

Life. I think one thing but I

11:12

really miss about India is like

11:14

a bus in limbo. Said surviving

11:16

see that's that's because you're is

11:18

is pretty. Anything is pretty organized,

11:20

very predictable, but sometimes you miss

11:22

that chaos. That. That subsidies yeah

11:24

the you walk into those the one

11:26

Noom Fonda Zoo or the I Love the

11:28

Galapagos Zoom in on board or marxism

11:30

to school standards. it's and We Don't

11:32

do you feel wanted. The on the Human

11:35

episode against Us. But yeah, little in his

11:37

grave if you want. If you're visiting Singapore,

11:39

you feel a bit warm. Fifty one Coming

11:41

from India, that is. Guess a lot of

11:43

options. This is a possible to what is

11:45

a number one favorite food restaurant or do

11:47

or whatever and love. Going to dismiss funded

11:50

by fun it's I see as I

11:52

have a nice restaurant. you should definitely

11:54

voice. Is only didn't sign on

11:56

in by far. The food is do

11:58

any good. The dumplings are fine. A

12:00

lot of the time. The experience will be different

12:03

from your regular Chinese. Yes. Who

12:05

is quite different? Learning so much. Okay,

12:08

we've got to wind up here. I've just been

12:10

told that our time is out. We've paid only

12:12

so much to leave the place. But

12:15

we've got something, an experience to share.

12:18

I went to a place called Empty. Have you heard

12:20

of Empty? No. Madame Tussauds.

12:23

Oh, called Empty. Wonderful. Lots

12:25

of interesting people there. Lots of our

12:27

fans and friends and politicians living and

12:29

dead, sometimes together in the same frame.

12:32

It doesn't make sense. So much surreal because one is

12:34

gone 200 years ago, the other one is still here. But

12:36

it was fantastic. Madame

12:40

Tussauds, I have food so I can get

12:42

into this entrance. You can't. Tom

12:51

Cruise. Bollywood is my favourite

12:53

actor, Tom Cruise. Or may I say,

12:55

Tom Hight? One

12:57

inch away. Ready?

13:02

Now for the big surprises. SRT.

13:09

Does it? SRT, Kahait, is a little less than

13:11

mine. So this is little one inch away. Has

13:13

it grown in the last couple of years? Why

13:16

is SRT this tall? What's going on? And

13:19

then, where

13:22

are you, Paji? Still looking

13:24

angry. Still upset. Calm down,

13:26

sir. Calm down. All will be well. Always be well. Very

13:29

good. Very close. I can talk to him like that. You

13:31

know how tall Yau really is. Famous basket bowler.

13:35

I think he's 7'5 or something. Let's see where

13:37

I reach. In

13:41

line with his armpit. Right there. Right

13:43

there. Serena.

13:46

May be greatest of all time. Tiger Woods. May

13:49

be greatest of all time. Virat, may be greatest

13:51

of all time. Vyros, may be great. Wait, there's more.

14:11

7 times to Libya. How

14:13

could be the greatest sex the world has ever seen? Oni

14:16

boy. Real,

14:23

real human being. That

14:25

was a real human being you didn't see. That's

14:30

lady Gaga yaar. How

14:32

can you not know lady Gaga? I can name

14:34

you any of her songs and right now sing all of

14:36

them together. I mean this is really

14:39

Ranveer. People think this is not a

14:41

back statue. This is Ranveer. So he comes

14:43

here when he's free and he just stands here for

14:45

a little while. And people think he knows

14:48

the statue and they get confused when he suddenly wake up. He

14:50

may not do it right now. Ranveer are you going to wake

14:52

up right now or he's going to do the whole acting? Ranveer?

14:55

Okay, okay. He won't do it right now.

14:57

He'll signal us when he's ready. All

15:04

famous people, all

15:07

famous people, I won't take names. Famous,

15:09

famous, famous, famous. All

15:12

famous people. Hello sir. Same

15:14

to you. You think you're a selfie

15:16

with Anushka yaar?

15:25

Come first. It's the Kuti, Anushka, the donor friend. Thanks brother. No, no,

15:27

no, no more, no more, no more. The other king. That's two

15:29

kings, Elvis and Shah Rukh. But now check out the European Kajal. The

15:31

European Kajal, they've changed Kajal into... I'm

15:56

very tired guys. It's not even... I'm

16:00

going to be a Go-Guard in 6-7 hours without

16:02

stopping. God is failing a lot for

16:04

sure. What a joke, what a joke, you know. From

16:07

out now, the peace across the world, here

16:09

in Singapore, that's my job. So,

16:11

yeah, never too tired

16:13

of Go-Gods' work, Garsh. Never too tired

16:15

of Go-Gods'. Sorry, you guys

16:17

can't follow me because you're a special part, sir.

16:20

So, stay away from your effort. Thanks

16:22

for being there, sir. I'll direct you all. Ha ha! See

16:26

you with my legs. Go-Gods.
