On the third episode of the D3 Podcast, we talk with Harold Vermanen who is the Senior Director WW Government Astrata Europe B.V.
Harold started off is decorated career as an officer of the Royal Netherlands Army (RNLA) and worked in various roles at Cisco, HPE and Microsoft where he initiated with his team highly innovative and successful military initiatives including TelePresence over Satellite to connect families for Christmas with the NATO ISAF troops in Afghanistan, Radio aware routing for military vehicles in Afghanistan, Electronic flight bag for the F16, NATO C&I Agency DevOps. Recently Harold established with a start-up a learning transformation supported by a highly innovative AI powered gamified cyber learning platform for education and exercises.
In addition to his background in the defense sector, Harold has worked in various roles within the technology industry with a focus on digital transformation of critical infrastructure for various national security customers like NATO and Defence organizations worldwide. His current role is Senior Director Government at Astrata translating data from mobile platforms into information supporting government customers to make the best business decisions in the shortest timeframe.
Harold has delivered presentations and contributed to panel discussions on many military conferences on topics related to Command and Control in Digital Transformation, Cyber Security, Interoperability and more.
Harold regularly writes blogs and articles and is also a member of various advisory groups and boards for the public sector and other customers with the objective to secure the critical infrastructure. Harold holds an MBA from Stanford University (US) and is the author of the essay ‘Implementing Changes in Hectic Environments’.
