#2 – From GROUND.NEWS  – Aviation company NorthStar Technologies is celebrating the growth of the aerospace industry in north central West Virginia. NorthStar’s recently completed 40,000-square-foot warehouse was built with help from the West Virginia Economic Development Authority, who approved a loan insurance of $500,000. 

The company has a couple of facilities in Bridgeport that work to warehouse parts for other aerospace companies and to do repairs.

NorthStar works with other larger and smaller aerospace businesses in a “symbiotic” relationship that employs more than 1,000 employees, according to co-owner Jeff Powell.

#3 – From MY BUCKHANNON – Buckhannon native and West Virginia University graduate Jayne Anne Phillips has won one of the most prestigious awards in American literature.

Phillips was awarded the 2024 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for her latest novel, “Night Watch,” set in West Virginia’s Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in the aftermath of the Civil War 

Although Phillips now lives in New York and Boston, her roots in the Mountain State have had a significant influence on her writing. Many of her early works, including her short story collection, “Black Tickets,” and her debut novel, “Machine Dreams,” are set in West Virginia and draw upon her experiences growing up in the state.
