Scripture:

Finally, sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. (Phil 4:8)

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline. (2 Tim 1:7)

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. (James 1:2-3)

 

Prayer:

Father God, We know that whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, it all comes from our source, our gracious and Heavenly Father. Lord, we thank you that you have removed a spirit of fear as far as the east is from the west, and placed in our hearts, power, and love and a sound mind to do your will and seek after our goals and dream daily in the name of Jesus, Amen.

 

Let’s hop right to our topic- The 5 S’s to feed your Soul. I want to share the 5 S’s and then break down each one a bit if that’s OK.

 

The 5 S’s to Feed Your Soul:

 

  1. Source
  2. Silence
  3. Solitude
  4. Stillness
  5. Sanctuary

 

First Source. The Source of all things, that which created the heavens and earth, that which breathed life into us.  For me, it is God Almighty. For me, it is not beyond the realm of possibility for the same God to be known by different names – but one source, yet all speaking in our tounges. My source is Adonai, my All and All. Without my source, I am nothing at all.  I honor and lit up my source. The goal here is to read the instructions that God let for us, read His word daily. You can start with the scriptures found in this podcast.

 

The Second S is Silence. This world is so noisy.  We are all overly stimulated with news, constant videos and television streaming, along with music, text notifications and notices, video games, Facebook, Instagram, Snap Chat and all the many screens we have access to and use, the passwords we must remember, the information we ingest and must report out on – it is ALL JUST TOO MUCH. Even when we go shopping whether online or in person, there are millions upon millions of choices and decisions to make. There is information that we are only capable of a limited number of decisions we can make each day. I mean good, well informed, sold decisions. This is why Mark Zuckerberg and the Steve Jobs of the world wear primarily the same thing every day. When we remove, all the unnecessary, and insignificant decisions, we can truly be silent. Consider what you can remove from your every day to gain some silence.  When I first experience silence on a higher level, I never expected what happened - to happen.  When my family and I first moved to the DMV, I began to test my theory, and I drove home to Ohio alone with no radio or sound at all. I was amazed by what happened to me on the inside. I found my ride refreshing, as I was able to take in the beauty of fall and all the beautiful colors, purples, reds, oranges and yellow. I felt a connection with God and his creation that I had not experienced since my time in Hawaii. The concept of being still was for me - taken to a whole new level.

 

The Third S is Solitude. If our minds are consistently being triggered, and it is influenced it is very difficult to achieve any level of solitude.  The type of solitude I am refereeing to is when you can sit with your thoughts, and focus on what you need to accomplish, do, dream or just simply be without other tasks, other people’s needs or just sitting still…. without anything interrupting your solitude.  I recall a time when I thought I had achieved this, and something reminded me that I was not at the level of solitude I thought I was. I was listening to the radio, and an advertisement for a large big box department store came on, and they were advertising a white sale., but not just any white sale but the largest white sale of the YEAR, so large in fact that as they said I didn’t want to miss it.  I was only a few blocks from home, but I found myself turning around in my car heading in the opposite direction to go and partake of the White Sale. Then it hit me -  I did not need any additional sheets or towels… and I turned myself around and headed back home. I share this story to emphasize the importance of our solitude and the importance of our need to have it and the importance of guarding it and placing boundaries around it for our greater and greatest selves, and for up leveling, for reaching your high vibration self.

 

Stillness is the fourth S. Scripture tells us to be still and know that I am God. (Psalm 46:10) Why be still you ask. We are still so that we can hear, see, feel and touch our source. God is always speaking to us, but because we are constantly moving, it prevents us from hearing, seeing and feeling His presence. We are not available for God to place in our souls and spirits that which is essential for us to manifest our dream jobs. God cannot reach us the line is busy. He is knocking at the door, and we don’t hear it, He sent us an email, but it is lost with all the other things we missed or overlooked.  For us to receive power, renewed energy, from the only source I know is to be still and know….He alone is the source, find some time to be still and see, and watch Him work. It’s funny when I hear Christians say; I don’t feel the presence of God like I once did, what I know to be true, God has not moved, He is the same yesterday, today and always.  Try it, be still for 5 minutes, then 10 then 15. Before long, you will be able to still for hours.

 

I saved the best S for last, number five - Sanctuary. For me, my home office is a major part of my sanctuary. Before this, I did not truly understand what having a personal sanctuary could do for me. In 2017, I had like many years in the past created a list of goals and placed them on a vision board. Fast forward to August when I got serious about achieving my goals, I started with decluttering and making my home office my sanctuary. When it was completed, I was able to focus and begin to achieve on a level I had not experienced prior.  I saw my way through making real progress on my goals.  To see my Vision Board for 2017, check out the link in the show notes. But what makes it my sanctuary, is my books and Bibles and a space I created and defined as my own. I have a custom scented candle that sits on a warmer, I have fresh flowers, and all my senses are positively engaged. It is very feminine; there are positive affirmations all around me and a beautiful chandelier that my husband picked out for me. But the one thing that makes it my sanctuary is that it is MY PERSONAL SPACE, and all MINE, mine, mine, mine.  Every day, I meditate, journal, and have quiet time. I also work on my dreams, goals, and aspirations in this space. My advice is - If you don’t have a space that is all your own, make this part of your goals now and in 2019.
