Throughout our lives, women are directed and instructed on how they "need" to be, dress, talk, walk and look to "keep a man" with the hope of keeping him around satisfied and happy enough to propose marriage. Girls learn how to dress sexy (but not too much), raise a famiily, keep a home, prepare tasty meals - all with the goal of securing a husband to take care of.

But when do black men get socialized to take care of women and prove themselves to be husband-worthy? What demands do black women make, what things are black boys and young men taught they need to do and be in order to attract a quality wife? Why are demands placed on women to trot out their "wife" skills on demand, but black men don't even want to pay for a dinner date?
