    Ever noticed "This app want's your location" popups ?
    So the word API is kind of like a buzzword in the software world.
    Simply put role of API is the role of waiter in a restaurant.
    The waiter condenses data and hides all the complexity and tells the customers what is available so that the customers doesn't have to go inside the kitchen to find it out himself😂.
    Full form is Application programming interface.
  • There are 2 uses of this.

    1. Get data from third party sites:

    Weather:
    Just search weather on a browser you will get a snippet (swipe) and it's not google who puts temperature sensors around the world to find out, they use API of weather.com.

    Saves Time: Google/FB API
    There is something called facebook or Google API (and trust me you have used this)
    While creating accounts in any app, if you have ever observed there is a sign up with google/facebook.
    So instead of creating accounts in the usual way(enter name, enter email..💤 ik you're already asleep).
    By clicking on sign up with fb, you can create the account in just ONE CLICK without having to go through the tedious process.
    So what happens is facebook API knows all the data about you so, and just gives it to the app which asks for it.

    2. Helps Developers
    Let's assume you're a developer of Pokemon go(rip 2018) and if you're making this game; you don't have to think of the location, camera or anything of that you just request access from system (android) that's why they ask such things like "Insta wants to access your camera" and crap like that.
