The mission of Deerfoot is to build Godly men in a Christ-centered community through wilderness camping. In this Deerfoot Conversation, Chief Nick Dotti, Mike Syvertsen and Chris Rivers discuss the 3rd part to Deerfoot’s mission and focus on what wilderness camping looks like in a Deerfoot context.

Mike has served in the Army for over 16 years as an Infantry officer in the 82nd Airborne Division and as a Special Forces officer in 3rd SFG(A) and 7th SFG(A). His operational experience includes six deployments to Afghanistan and one to Iraq. He currently resides in Nato Special Operations Headquarters in Belgium. Chief Craig is the Director of Deerfoot Lodge Blue Ridge. Chris works for Grace Church in Greenville SC. In this interview Nick asks Mike to address three ideas:

1. What does “wilderness camping” mean to you?

2. How did the wilderness camping aspect of Deerfoot prepare you for seeking out challenges in a profession?

3. How do you see the other aspects of the Deerfoot mission… “in christ-centered community” to bring about the “building godly men”. Connecting to “wilderness camping”?

After listening to this episode consider one of the following:

1. Sign up for camp! We have limited openings, with some sessions waitlisted already, but plenty of spots left to fill. https://deerfoot.org/registration-details

2. Apply to be on staff, and you could become part of the mission all while helping to raise a generation of Godly men ready to change their world for the cause of Christ. https://deerfoot.org/get-involved/be-on-staff

3. Tell someone about camp. Help get us connected with someone who could serve at camp.  If you have a friend or a relative, who you know is walking with the Lord, and could be a good example for the campers at Deerfoot.  Please point them towww.deerfoot.org/staff to apply to be on staff, or have them contact us directly by emailing us at [email protected].
