Today is a very special day to me.

It is the birthday of one of the most amazing men I know, my husband, as well as the 1 year anniversary of my decision to leave a 7-year career in public accounting to pursue…

well, I didn’t quite know what at the time.

What do these two seemingly separate events have in common?

This was a question that came to me during my meditation today and as I reflected on it, I realized...

They both involve jumping.

The decision to get married and enter a committed long-term relationship with another human being was a huge leap of faith for me.

The leap of faith I took to listen to my heart and intuition all those years ago, despite some fear and uncertainty, has been one of the best decisions I have made.

The experience of sharing my life with someone…while growing both individually and as a team, has been one of the most rewarding experiences (if not the most rewarding) experience I have been privileged to have.

I’m so thankful that I took the leap of faith to listen to my inner guidance (and not the fear-based voices in my head).

Today, I get to celebrate the life of one of the most incredible human beings I know.

The decision to leave a 7-year career in public accounting to figure out my “next step”, was another HUGE leap of faith.

While the full picture wasn’t clear (and still isn't), I knew the first step involved quitting my job.

That decision was clear to me.

I took a leap of faith and trusted that if I took the first step, the next step would become clear.

And...that is exactly how the last year has unfolded.

Each step along the journey has been a HUGE leap of faith and has led me to a new place that I never would've found had I stayed in my comfort zone.

I would have missed all of the fun and adventure.

Which leads me back to you. What is the next step for you? What is the leap of faith that you know you need to take in order to step out of the safe and comfortable and experience the adventure that is waiting for you?

P.S. On my recent adventures up the east coast to Maine, my mom and I stopped in Boston to explore the city. It was an unusually hot day in Boston (over 90 degrees) and after spending some time walking the city streets, I was parched and sweaty. As we were walking on Long Wharf, a historic pier in Boston, the thought came to me to jump in the Boston Harbor to cool myself off. Just as quickly as that thought came to me, others started coming too...“you can’t do that”, “you’re not allowed to do that”, “you’ll get in trouble”, “people are going to think you’re crazy”, “you don’t have a bathing suit on”, “you’ll be all wet”, and on and on they went. I knew my window to jump was closing quickly, and so I took a leap of faith...and jumped. It was so refreshing! Here is a short video my mom captured of this experience:). Enjoy!
