Do you struggle with depression? Do you have dark days or maybe someone in your family does and this is a reality that you live with?

This week on the podcast, Sarah J. Robinson and I discuss her book, *I Love Jesus, But I Want To Die. I think sometimes we think that if we have faith, we will not struggle with depression. But that is not true. I am so thankful to Sarah for vulnerably sharing her struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts as well as offering hope to those walking through their darkest days. I believe her story will also give hope to those who have a loved one who struggles with depression.

It is National Suicide Prevention Week and I think this is a great time to bring voice to this important subject that is not always talked about much. We talk about finding a therapist and overcoming shame in this episode. Honestly, my favorite part is the loving words a couple spoke to Sarah in her greatest time of need. We can all learn so much for the wisdom and truth shared.

Also, I am so excited for someone to win a copy of Sarah’s book, *I Love Jesus, But I Want To Die. All the details of the book giveaway are on my website at jodirosser.com or you can click this direct link: https://jodirosser.com/giveaways/i-love-jesus-but-i-want-to-die-book-giveaway/

Last year during National Suicide Week, I spoke with Kayla about her book, *Fear Gone Wild: A Story of Mental Illness, Suicide, and Hope Through Loss. If you are not familiar with her story, sadly, her husband, Andrew, died by suicide three years ago. If you missed our conversation, I encourage you to check it out: Depth Podcast Episode 49.

Children’s Books (Sarah reads these on panic attack days to help calm her)

Sarah J. Robinson once believed her lifelong battle with depression made her a bad Christian. Now she’s an author and speaker who helps others discover that mental illness doesn’t disqualify them from living rich, beautiful lives in Christ. Drawing from a decade of ministry experience and the mental health field, Sarah helps readers fight for wholeness and cultivate joy. She lives in Nashville with her husband.

In this debut book, Sarah offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. She shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church.

Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in your deepest anguish.
