Dexter apologizes to Deb for disappearing for 5 days. Dexter finds out that Deb knows there are two people involved with the Doomsday Killer murders. Dexter knows that he has to get to Gellar before the police do.

Travis makes a nice breakfast for his sister. When he leaves to take out the trash, he finds the smashed picture of himself and Gellar in the trash can. Gellar shows up outside Travis’ sister’s house and tries to guilt him back to the DDK work. When that doesn’t work, he threatens Travis that his sister will be the next victim. Travis tries to get his sister out of town but she doesn’t want to leave her kids without a teacher.

Dexter attends Brother Sam’s funeral. Ironically, the funeral takes place at the same place where Dexter murdered Brother Sam’s killer, Nick. Brother Sam wanted Dexter to have his bible, even though Dexter is not religious. One of Brother Sam’s flock tells Dexter that most of the answers to the questions can be found inside.

Dexter gets to Travis while he’s working. Travis tells Dexter that he made a mistake working with Gellar. Dexter offers to take care of Gellar but Travis is hesitant and tells Dexter to leave him alone.

Dexter is called to a scene in a high rise. The victim is a call girl. Dexter surmises that she overdosed on heroin and someone tried to perform CPR before returning her back to where she fell and cleaning up around the body. Captain LaGuerta shows up at the scene as well. She asks to be copied on the Medical Examiner’s report…leading us to believe there is something fishy going on!

At Deb’s press conference, the main topic is DDK. Now that the team knows there is an accomplice, they are sending out police to interview the 200 person suspect list. Even Deb plans to interview suspects.

Jaime shows up at the police station to see Louis. She wants Angel to eat dinner with them so that he can get to know Louis.

Dexter looks in Brother Sam’s bible for words that will convince Travis to let him go after Gellar. He finds Travis eating breakfast and quotes bible passages to him, specifically the passage regarding the sin of omission. Travis agrees to help Dexter after he gets his sister out of harm’s way.

Deb interviews Lisa, Travis’ sister. Lisa tells Deb that Travis hadn’t mentioned his connection to Gellar after Gellar showed up in the newspapers as a DDK suspect. Deb gives Lisa her card and tells her to have Travis call them. As Deb is getting into her car, Travis sees her gun and keeps riding his bicycle past the house.

LaGuerta runs into Deb in the ladies room. LaGuerta brings up the prostitute death and encourages Deb to close the case. When she gets back to her office, Deb calls Dexter and tells him to put a rush on Jessica Morris’ blood report.

Angel eats dinner with Louis and Jaime. When Jaime leaves to use the ladies room, Angel basically tells Louis that Jaime is dating around and is to young to take a relationship seriously.

Deb doesn’t feel good about closing the prostitute death because of the suspicious circumstances. When she is talking to Dexter about the case, she finds a pen from Nebraska. She is upset that Dexter felt he had to leave the state to talk to Kyle about Trinity. She wanted to be the one that Dexter came to. Fortunately, the conversation gets interrupted by Masuka telling them that DDK has struck again.

The victim is Travis’ sister, Lisa. Deb recognizes her and sends the team out to find Travis. Dexter cuts the tag off one of the robes used in the tableau. Masuka finds Deb’s business card safety pinned to Lisa’s body.

Gellar found Travis earlier and knocked him out with a shovel. Travis wakes up chained to the floor of the abandoned church. Gellar tells Travis his sister talked to the police and that he killed her and made her the victim in the Whore of Babylon tableau.

When Deb asks LaGuerta about the dead prostitute, LaGuerta encourages her again to close the case as an overdose. LaGuerta tries to pretend that it’s about the numbers and that the department needs to close cases, but after Deb leaves, she makes a suspicious phone call- stating “It’s taking care of..you have nothing more to worry about.”

Dexter tries to search for F.N. Galway, the name on the tag of the robe. Louis helps him find another search engine that pulls up information. Deb interrupts Dexter to ask him to eat dinner with her, so they can talk. Dexter says he can’t that night.

Deb meets with the therapist. She talks about her troubles with Dexter and the fact that he doesn’t share much about himself. The therapist tells Deb that maybe she is talking too much and not listening to what Dexter has to say.

Masuka and Joey are at a strip club. Joey is wasted and tries to hit on the waitress. The bouncer asks him to leave after he follows one of the girls off the stage. Masuka can’t get Joey to leave so Masuka walks out, leaving Joey behind.

Dexter finds out that the name on the robe is Father Nicholas Galway (F.N. Galway), who now has dementia and lives in a nursing home. Father Galway thinks Dexter is someone else and asks him to confess his sins. Because Galway’s mind is so far gone, Dexter confesses to the murders he has committed and Galway absolves him of his sins. The sister tells Dexter that Galway used to preach at a church that is now rundown and abandoned. Dexter thinks this could be where Gellar is hiding out.

When Dexter gets home, Deb is there cooking dinner. Dexter wants to get to Gellar so he blows her off and tells Jaime he needs her to stay and babysit Harrison.

Gellar burns Travis with a hot piece of steel, to “get the demons out of his head.” Dexter drives up outside and Gellar and Travis hear his car door. Dexter finds Travis chained to the floor of the church. Dexter sees Gellar up in the balcony and goes up after him. The window is open and it appears that Gellar has run away. Travis agrees to help Dexter kill Gellar.
