This episode is jam packed as we discuss the challenges of embracing weight neutrality in medicine. Dr. Al-Rufaie and I discuss the weight bias inherent in medical training and what we're doing to combat it.

We talk about how to have conversations with patients and parents about weight without causing harm and perpetuating bias. We also talk about how to interact with our children so we do not encourage disordered thoughts about food and their bodies.

These are tough topics and we attempt to address them in a way that is useful to both physicians and other practitioners in direct patient care, and to parents who are concerned about their kids' weight.

Dr. Zeena Al-Rufaie is a pediatrician and obesity medicine physician. She is also a certified life coach who coaches working moms who want to lose mental and physical weight in order to serve as a role model for their children.
