When you're mothering without a village, you do the work of an entire community yourself. It is a relentless, often lonely, job.

It affects your mood, tests your resilience and influences the decisions you make every day.  It doesn’t matter if you have a partner (though not having one is INFINITELY harder); how much you wanted to be a mum; how much you love your child; or how prepared you thought you were, playing all of these roles day in, day out, is exhausting.

But how often do you think about that on the hard days?
