A brilliant example of true-life podcasting - a gripping story that would be unbelievable if it wasn't true, told in a sensitive but enthralling way.
This is a very good stand alone podcast, but it has serious Reality television vibes. A little too showy and gender stereotyped for me. It is a true and truly horrifying crime but there are many Lifetime T.V. tropes included that are seriously annoying. Nonetheless it is an interesting story of how easily Americans excuse white males who commit acts of fraud and violence and how that can escalate a vey bad situation into a tragedy. There are thousands of men like Dirty John, and I wish we would stop glorifying and excusing them and focus on making stronger more emotionally healthy young women a girls who won't fall for these despicable predators.
It doesn't take long to get hooked on this podcast! It's filled with all the details and will blow your mind that this is a true story! 10/10 recommend
Loved this fascinating podcast & grateful to this family for sharing their story.
This is a crazy story and the podcast is so much better than the tv show.
Y'all need to start hitting the Facebook before you get married! How any woman can fall for this, I have not a clue. I wanted to throw my speaker phone into a river at times, but I did find this to be a good cast. I listened alone because the hubby wasn't interested, but it let me get some quilting done and made the time go faster.
A well researched, well told, interesting series. Brings the best of storytelling & investigative journalism together.
The podcast was way better than the television show. I enjoyed getting the first person perspectives.
AMAZING story and very well done.
It was well done, just got over annoying with the mom not leaving and staying with the psychopath
A wild story that takes a ton of twists and turns. The storytelling is phenomenal.
I listened through the whole podcast before finding out it wasn't fictional. Such a strange and sometimes unbelievable podcast, but very enjoyable & keeps you wanting more.
Crazy true con story. Slow burn with satisfying ending.
Hard to believe it's a true story. Always couldn't wait to listen to the next episode.
Very Good! Well produced!
It's not perfect, but it certainly is more engaging than Serial, though not quite to the level of S-Town. Listened to this all the way through in one sitting. Wonderfully structured and great look into these strange creatures called humans.
