This week Bob and Dale are joined by special guest Bill Featherton, a long-time listener.

Cigar of the Week - Panacea Green Label Toro

Over a year in the making, the Panacea Green label uses a specially fermented Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper to balance out a triple Ligero filler in a very exciting 2010 release from Flatbedcigars.com.

Dark SideHOYO DE MONTERREY LE HOYO DU GOURMET

Origin: Cuba Manufactured: Hand Made
Gauge: Thin Length: 170
Format: Palma Ring: 33
Weight: 6,76 gr.
Presentation: Slide lid box of 25

"Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo du Gourmet" Review:

Discontinued in 2002, this cigar has what some call the "experts" size, long and slim. With a peculiar creamy sweetness, Le Hoyo du Gourmet needs to be smoked slowly so that it does not overheat, what would give the cigar a different taste than it was meant to have.

Herf Line Reviews - If you call and leave a cigar review on the herf line and it is played on the show, you will receive a DogWatch Cigar Radio patch! You can reach the Herfline at 321-594-4373 - or cigar.radio on Skype. You can also send email to [email protected].

Origin of the term HERF: From Cigar Craig, http://cigarcraig.wordpress.com/2009/09/29/the-origin-of-the-word-herf/

What else have you been smokin' Dale?

Bow Tie Green - my last sample from BowTie Cigars, a light Conny Shade wrapped rubusto without that typical airy-grassy flavor I usually find from that wrapper. Mild bodied, lots of cedar & leather flavors and smooth. Not much complexity, but far better balanced then the other two lines. Good mid-morning cigar I'd recommend to mild cigar lovers.

Famous Nicaragua 3000, 2008 - Dark flavors have smoothed over time - coffee, cocoa and some of that meaty savoryness all still come through with that Nic Zing. Still one of my favorite everyday cigars.

What else have you been smokin' Bob?

Padron 1926 Torpedo - What a beautiful box pressed cigar this is. Foot aroma was distinctive barnyard. It's a complicated smoke - I mean with three bands to remove, it almost took an engineering degree to get them off with the overlap and wrap around....

Gurhka Triad Churchill 7x52 - Adorned with a 10-year-old Connecticut Ecuadorian wrapper around a 7-year-old Dominican binder and a 7-year-old Nicaraguan/Honduran filler, this is one of the smoothest cigars you may ever smoke. Kaizad only made 300 boxes of these and they are a special treat. Great medium-to-mild cigar with toasty flavors of leather and sweet spices.

Whats My Band - #920 from Liz, Padilla Cazadores
Bob - I had high expectations at the beginning of this cigar because of its light barnyard pre-aroma and good flavors of slightly bitter dry grasses. But the excitement faded as the cigar began to burn lopsided and the flavors got decidedly sour and the stench of poorly fermented tobacco came out. Could not wait to put this one down.

Do you have a suggestion for the unbanded cigar of the week?  Every week Bob and Dale include an “unbanded cigar” segment in their show in which they smoke a cigar without any markings and give their honest opinions.  Bob then opens a sealed envelope and discovers the cigar’s name and manufacturer.  If you have suggestions for the "What's My Band?" segment, please send them to [email protected].
