Check a pro Joe, check a pro Joe here on the check,
0:16
a pro radio show talking garage doors with Alex Dalton from Eco garage doors in Austin,
0:23
Texas. Hey, Alex, how are you? I'm doing good today,
0:26
Joe, how are you doing? I am living the dream. Thank you so much,
0:28
my friend. I appreciate it. A question has come into the radio show and that is,
0:33
how many quotes should I get for a garage door replacement?
0:38
What do you think? You know, I'm gonna say three.
0:41
You never just want one, two sometimes isn't enough.
0:46
Um I always tell my customer to get another quote.
0:49
You know, obviously, I want the sale, I want your work,
0:52
but at the end of the day, I want you to be happy.
0:54
I don't want you to have buyers or more. Uh So always get I'd say 2 to 3 quotes uh and engage with other companies are charging,
1:02
uh, see how other companies are, uh, representing their brands.
1:06
Um, and who you feel comfortable to work with.
1:10
In the long term. I would agree with that.
1:12
You want to get an idea of who you're working with.
1:16
The most important thing. I feel in home improvement when someone's gonna come onto your property and replace something such as a garage door is that relationship short and long term,
1:26
you are buying something from an individual and they're selling you something as an individual.
1:33
And unless the pricing is all over the board,
1:36
um, or a huge difference,
1:38
you really need to consider who is coming onto your property to provide that service.
1:43
Now, I will tell you, we hear this all the time, Alex where someone will say I got three quotes and they're all over the place.
1:52
I got one guy quoting, you know,
1:54
X and then another guy, Y and Z and why was twice as much as X and Z was twice as much as Y four times as much as X.
2:04
How do I know what to do? So when there's a price discrepancy there,
2:09
what do people do with that price?
2:12
They pick the middle guy. A lot of people do pick the middle guy.
2:16
Um You know, some people even pick the higher guy though.
2:18
I, I don't really see it too often when people pick that lower guy.
2:23
Uh It's, it really just depends on,
2:26
uh in my opinion, it depends on the sales guy. Um,
2:28
who you trust more, who's gonna take care of you more.
2:31
Uh, if the guy you trust more is the cheaper guy.
2:34
I, I see people go that route too.
2:36
Um, we're, we're not the cheapest,
2:39
we're not the most expensive. We actually had it the other day where somebody was way less than us and then somebody else was way higher than us.
2:47
We sold that door just because of how comfortable they felt with us.
2:51
Um, but I, I do know they like,
2:53
uh, the, the higher quote as well. Um,
2:55
you know, so it's just always beneficial to get more quotes.
2:59
Um, when you're doing something like this,
3:01
the garage door is the largest moving piece,
3:04
uh, of your home. You know, it's something you want done correctly.
3:08
It's something you want to be comfortable with. Uh,
3:10
and once again that I personally don't like having buyers or more.
3:14
So, if I'm shopping around for some home service,
3:17
uh, replacement items or even if I'm going to the store,
3:20
I, I do my research and, and I look around at price to make sure that I'm gonna be happy at the end of the day.
3:26
Yeah. No, I totally agree with that.
3:29
People buy from people they know, like, and trust a lot of these services,
3:33
like getting something repaired or replaced.
3:35
Seem like it's a commodity type thing.
3:38
Well, it's the same product and the same type of service.
3:41
The real question is everybody needs to ask when they hire a home service professional coming into their houses.
3:46
If I have a problem tomorrow,
3:49
a week from now, a month or a year from now,
3:51
will that home service professional still be available to me to back up their warranty?
3:56
And that's really the critical thing. Exactly.
4:01
And, uh, that's, that's some of the problems when you get some of those cheaper quotes too.
4:05
Uh, it's just a guy in a truck. You know,
4:07
it's got the tailgate warranty. Um,
4:10
you want to make sure that you're picking the right company,
4:12
a reputable company, an insured company.
4:15
Um, someone that's, that's been around and someone that's not gonna blow you off if,
4:20
uh, if you give them a call and you're having an issue. So that's,
4:23
that's a good reason to also look at more quotes.
