As more consumers embrace e-commerce, one of biggest challenges is how to sell higher end fashion online.

Mass market fashion can leverage cute styles at a price.  Luxury is usually playing off well known brands backed by massive advertising campaigns.

Mid - to - better fashion has neither of those advantages.  Traditionally, it has thrived in a brick and mortar retail environment where sales were driven by a combination of the physical attributes of the products - touch, feel, colour,  - and personal service from shop assistants. 

Tom Ott is tackling that challenge - and so far he’s winning. 

He’s parlayed his vast merchant experience in menswear to launch Retail Czar, an online specialty store, with a person touch. 

During Tom’s 24-year career at Saks Fifth Avenue he was Senior Vice President and GMM of Men’s, Gifts and Home.  He then went on to be Chief Merchant at Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th.

After leaving Saks, Tom became Chief at Retail and Fashion Solutions, which provides strategic solutions for retail and fashion companies.

As men return to fashion, and after over a year in sweat pants and t-shirts Tom believes they will, Retail Czar is there to provide a carefully edited assortment of fine menswear with a distinctly New York point of view.
