This week on a special two-part episode of #MaxOutTime #EducationReboot: First Philadelphia Preparatory Charter Middle School History Teacher, Dustin Vitale, discusses the unbreakable bond he had with his late mother Gloria Walker.

Gloria was diagnosed with terminal bladder cancer in 2020, but her dying wish was to see the pyramids in Egypt. Dustin took up his mom’s cheesesteak recipe and decided to sell the Philly staple out of his home this spring. His story quickly spread and Dustin’s service, Vitale’s Steaks, became a hit.

Just before she passed, Dustin raised enough to send his family on the trip Gloria always wanted. We discussed his last moments with Gloria before turning to how difficult juggling his job as a teacher, business owner, and son were during the pandemic.
